anesthesia admission questions???

Hello everyone, I am seeking some opinions re: admission to anesthesia school. Please bare with me if these questions have repeatedly been asked. First, any pros/cons re: msn vs ms biology anesthesia programs? I have noted that the msn programs tend to be lengthier. The only opinion I have gathered is that I am not interested in taking more classes about florence nightingale, etc, thus I gear more towards ms program. Are oncline science courses frowned upon throughout the admission process? Finally, does anyone know how the admission boards generally feel about travelling nurses?

Just make sure your assignments are challenging.

I am unaware of any advantage/disadvantage of MS vs. MSN. I just kinda liked the sound of MSN better :)

Travel nurses do not always get the hardest assignments. The staff is not familiar with your skills and alot of the time will give a bunny assignment as a courtesy. At least that is the way it in the places that I have worked. Be able to prove that you were recognized as a skilled person able to take the tough ones.

Our director did not seem to care if people had SOME online courses. There are two people I am aware of who did not gain admission with nearly 4.0's. The only obvious thing was that both of their trascripts had alot of internet classes. Not sure though. I am sure it varies greatly.

Thank you for the info. laughing gas. I will be taking a 2nd semester anat. and phys. course online as my BSN only required one semester and all of the schools I am interested in require one year of a combined a/p course. In addition, since graduation I have taken biochemistry at a university. I travelled to hospitals in California where travelling rn's were mostly 75 - 100% of the staff, thus I feel I gained great experience and knowledge on my assignments. I currently am working at the hospital/icu unit in which I started as a new grad (travel assign.) I will be here for a total of 9 mos. working with familiar management staff and doctors. Hopefully that will be helpful, as I will be getting my recommendations from this facility, as they know my skill level the most. So, what I'm saying is, does this make sense, and am I making the right decisions. Any other advice??

hi! just reading through the thread and noticed that u said u are currently working on a travel assignment as a new grad. is this the first "out-of-nursing-school-job" u took? i always thought that u had to have a complete year of experience before they let u take a travel assignment. haha, thats great!
