Any one getting down sized yet?
Are these CRNA's actually going to the ICU to work or finding work elsewhere??? That is just crazy!!!! Almost 3 yrs. of hell just to find myself back in the ICU, I would have a bit of a breakdown!!!

Locum Tenems Questions?
A question for CRNA's: How much experience do you feel is necessary prior to doing locums assignments? Either supervised or autonomous positions. 1 yr??? Thanks....

TCU vs. TWU
Number #1: MJ is not there anymore, which is a huge loss!!! Talk about total disorganization within that office now!!! I felt exactly like you did after leaving my interview almost 3 yrs. ago, and I now feel 100% opposite of that. Feel free to PM me.....Both schools have their ups and downs...... Mostly, it is the clinical site that you go to which is the most important consideration of where you want to go to school!!!

Am I the only one??
Nobody knows more about how you are feeling than me, believe me!!! I am now 4 clinical days from being done and I would still give it all back if I could just get back all the money I have put into this ordeal!!! What I have missed out on in the past couple of years and the stress and depression I have gone thru is so not worth it!!! To all of you wanting to get into Anesthesia School, you need to read this and actually BELIEVE what we are saying to be true!!!!

TCU distance option
Please Oklahoma people, let's not forget that there are 2-3 schools in Kansas City as well to consider!!! TCU is not the end all of your options..............The tuition is very high for having to do everything from a distance and not have that interaction with your professors, etc. I am graduating from TCU soon and was at the school for didactic, yet in California for clinicals!! I cannot begin to explain to you how much easier my life would have been had I taken a clinical site in Fort Worth, TX......Just my 2 cents......

Am I the only one??
Hey Thanks, ICUDOUCME, I thankfully did not quit school, at this moment, I only have 6 clinical days left!!! Thank God!!! I would never never never ever ever ever do this again!!! I still have a lot to learn at my first job, but I just can't wait until this whole anesthesia thing is a lot more enjoyable!! Making a paycheck will definitely help the situation!!! Good Luck to You!!!

A CRNA's opinion please?
LoveAnesthesia: thanks for the reply. Just curious, what would the COA do with a letter describing my experiences?? As far as my clinical site: it is a bit of a different situation, b/c it is very MD driven. Actually, about 40% of the attending MD's would be incredibly happy to see us go and to never never return!!! There is only 4 of us SRNA students at this particular site right now... Foraneman: Also thanks for the tips, I appreciate it!!! When I stated that my experience is subpar compared to other students, it is b/c my particular school has clinical sites in many states, and other sites do get fabulous experiences. Yumyum: If you are a student, I wouldn't suggest you apply to this school!! I am trying real hard to keep my frustrations down (i.e. my mouth shut) until my title changes to fungirl, CRNA.

A CRNA's opinion please?
Yeah, kind of did that already, but I think the directors just think I am being immature and a problem student. I did get a rotation away for 3 months, but still would have liked more.....Plus I graduate in 2 months, I did the best I could. I even paid an additional $5000 and moved across the U.S. to do the outrotation that I demanded......Can't do anything about the school that I chose at this point! Needless to say, can this lack of experience be made up for upon graduation in a high volume, high acuity OR??
-
A CRNA's opinion please?
Lacking in both. I will graduate with maybe just a few more cases than is minimally required for my school. Types of cases: spent 5 days handing things to anesthesia residents and call that a cv rotation. I am still trying to get the minimum 5 central lines, and it is like having to move mountains!! Because, if my education was to come first, then how would they staff the board!!! I did however rotate to a different site for 3 months for some neuro, vascular, and peds cases. But, all in all just needed more higher acuity cases. Spent the majority of my time in a room by myself doing ortho, gyn, necks, adults, and lets not forget that at one point in time 1/3 of my cases were eyes...All the while knowing that if what I did in the case wasn't correct, the whole MD staff would know about it within 3 secs. and discuss why nurses shouldn't be administering anesthesia!! I think my OB rotation will be o.k. Have not gone to any codes on the floor, and only intubated one patient up in the ICU. Peripheral blocks, are you kidding me, yeah right!! No Trauma, because nurses can't take care of trauma patients!! I just know compared to the rest of the students in my class, my experience is subpar compared to theirs. I graduate in two months and will have all my numbers, but I of course am an overachiever and just feel like I had more expectations for my clinical experience. I definitely paid enough money for school!!! I must apologize for the tone of my message, it's just that I get pretty emotional when thinking about what all I have gone through to get the clinical experience that I actually got. I irritated quite a few people along the way just to get the added experience/rotation that I insisted on!!

A CRNA's opinion please?
Do you guys believe that a clinical SRNA student whose clinical experience was thoroughly lacking will be able to make up for this with continued practice within their first one to two years of being a practicing CRNA?

TCU baton rouge group
You all won't be getting to go at the same time and from what I remember the reimbursement is $860.00. Look for condos on vrbo.com or vacationrentals.com.............

How many nurses say they want to be a CRNA?
So, you still didn't answer my question: what exactly is your involvement in the field of nursing? My problem with you is your overly confident statements regarding crna's, anesthesiologist, etc. Moreover, that is my complaint about the direction of this forum as a whole!! There are posters such as yourself who think they are quite knowledgeable on the subject, and posting their opinion on this forum where folks are trying to get some honest answers regarding this field!! Believe me I have digested some of the recent posts on this forum: They consist of adn-crna, how to go to school without having to do gre's, etc...........I find it pathetic that people are trying to worm their way into school with the least bit of effort.........Finally, I find that there tends to be more posts disregarding the education of CRNA's than there are in support of them......... Not necessarily a rant towards you, just my personal opinion of the decreasing quality of this forum!!

How many nurses say they want to be a CRNA?
CherrySky: I am just curious where all of your wisdom regarding this topic is coming from? Are you an SRNA? Excuse me but med school is not like rocket science!! Any CRNA could do just fine in medical school, they just did not take that route for one reason or the other!! Number 1: CRNA school is more difficult to get into than medical school!! Also, in another quote of yours in this forum you state that RN's actually do work harder than CRNA's do...Do you have first hand exprience of this?? Have you even graduated from nursing school as of yet?? Clarify for me, b/c I am not sure of the point of your quotes: Are you saying that a nurse anesthetist's EXCELLENT salary is too high?

Applying to CRNA programs
Magno79: I'm so proud of you!!!! Hope you're getting in some good wakeboarding this summer before anesthesia takes over your life!!!
