Anyone considering applying?

Is there no way to just apply really early so that you can find out earlier (or maybe defer for a later session so that at least you know you have a spot?) For example, I am not looking to start until August/Sept 2012, but I was thinking of submitting my application this fall.

Again, it just seems so crazy to give so little lead-in time. I have one other school I will be applying to, but knowing where I would be going involves so many logistics that would be hard to plan for in just 6 or even 8 weeks!

From what I've read, it seems like they tell everyone around the same time (except for those waitlisted). They may need to fill the applicant pool before they begin making decisions. I could be wrong though, just guessing!

Aren't you going to stay on campus in the dorm?

I agree, I think that it is a requirement to stay on the campus site.

It's not a requirement - for example, if you have a spouse with a nursing baby and you all want to stay in a hotel together, you can do that. You'll be doing activities on campus from 8am until 8pm most days, though. Plus, part of the Frontier experience is hanging out with and getting to know the other students who will become your sisters over the next two years. I know it sounds corny, but it's totally true. That's kind of one of the main purposes of requiring the on-campus experiences. One of my best memories of Frontier bound was sitting up until 1am, chatting with my dorm mate.

Yes, you can be accepted into one class, and then defer to the next class and be guaranteed a spot in the next class. So in that sense, you can make it so that you will know more than 2 months in advance.

But otherwise, applying earlier does not allow you to be notified earlier - they notify all acceptances at the same time.

My husband will be deployed this summer....I have four kids, so I have to bring them with me. My oldest is 18 and will be my nanny while I am at Frontier!

thanks klone! That's really helpful.

I have also applied to Frontier for the Fall 2011. I sent my application at the beginning of February, and the wait is a real challenge! I guess that I am just ready to get started, even called and inquired that I would probably not know until June. The very pleasant lady that I spoke to confirmed it. So here I sit, hoping and waiting. If I end up having to wait and be placed in another class, I am fine with it. I just want to go!!

Now, I did find out something unique...they send their acceptances by email and their declines by letter and may or may not contact you at all if you are waitlisted...yes, odd, but that is how they do it.

Thanks so much for sharing this! I would not have known otherwise! :o

I am in the same class at Frontier as the earlier poster, klone. I applied in Feb 2010 for the August 2010 Frontier Bound. Although you are finding out your acceptance 6-8 weeks before Frontier Bound (required on campus orientation), the classes don't actually start right after orientation. My orientation was August 23-26, but classes didn't start until September 27th.

As far as planning goes, as soon as you send in your application, ask for those days off work. Worst that happens is you don't get in, and you can cancel those vacation days. Better than not doing it, and then when you get accepted, its too late to request off.

As far as the wait list goes, I will tell you my wait list story. I applied to class 80, but there was an overflow of accepted students to class 80, so they admitted me to class 83 instead. (along with several others, and they ended up closing class 83 admissions early b/c of this---so apply early). I was on the waitlist for class 80, while definitely being admitted to 83. I found out because the day after everyone was posting on facebook that they got their acceptance emails (and I hadn't gotten one), I called the school and they told me the wait list info/admitted to the next class. This was late June. I called a few times to check on my wait list status, and was told that no one had dropped so i was still wait listed.

I still had that week requested off, just in case i got off the wait list. One week before Frontier Bound, I emailed one more time to check on wait list status, reminding them I had time off, and travel was not an issue (6 hour drive, so no flights to book or anything). I got an email back saying someone had just dropped that day, so I was in! So exciting :) I am so glad I did, too, b/c I am with a great group of women.

MOre advice-get on Frontier's Facebook page. They often post updates on when they are sending out the acceptance emails. For example, today they announced that Class 90 CNM acceptance emails would be going out today, while FNP would be going out later this week. Get on their discussion boards on FB, too--meet other potential classmates

and yes, skype and facebook are invaluable for getting through this program

And we're all glad as well! :)

Hi everyone. I have also applied to Frontier for Aug 2011 (class 92) but for the FNP. I was just going to invite all of you to come over to the facebook page (there is a discussion board).... there are lots over there also waiting... CNM and FNP!

I'm planning to apply in 2012! I'm excited! I'm just trying to figure out exactly how I will pay for it :)
