I am interested in hospital training/internship programs for cardiac or ICU or CCU for RN grads that require a 1 yr commitment after training. Does anyone know how I might found out where such programs are offered?? I would appreciate any info! Thanks!

WE have a preceptor/internship program. It is 16-20 weeks. Must commit to a total of 2 yrs. Northwest NJ hospital system. New grads welcome. Joanne

I just recieved a job on the cardiac floor. Funny thing is I didn't spply for that job but the cardiac department was looking for help so my resume was sent to them. I just graduated from school and only have 3 months experience with home healthcare, but they still were interested. They offered to send me to classes relating to cardiac nursing and give me all the help I need on the floor. I was very honest and told them that I had never worked with any cardiac patients, they assured me that this was fine and that they would train me and send me to classes. (this is at a teaching hospital)

You might try another teaching hospital in your area, they seem to know what it is like starting from the bottom and want to help you learn....Best of luck!
