UBC nursing application 2011

Hello,

I'm new to the site and I saw the thread for last years appilcants to UBC nursing so I thought I would start one for this year.

How is the application going for everyone, any tips from 2010 intake?

Well...before I start giving tips, I should make sure my application was good enough! Hopefully have 'words of wisdom' to share in a day or so!

As far as working alongside nurses, no I do not. Many would think my job falls within the realm of nursing as I work alongside a surgeon, and it certainly is a great warm-up for (hopefully) what's to come.

Hey Grace! Im not sure if the Thompson River Bio equivalent is 155 or 153... So im not sure if this applys to you, but if it is the 155 and you are applying for next year 2012 you might want to double check...This is what it says on the ubc nursing website:

"NOTE: As of May 2011, BIOL 155 will no longer satisfy the human anatomy and physiology requirement. We will accept BIOL 155 courses completed up to the end of April 2011 as meeting this requirement."

As for the supplimental application, from what I've heard, and having done this twice now :) I think what they are looking for from applicants is maturity, professionalism, self reliance, experience working with people (types of people, cultures, age groups, marginalized groups, disabilities), empathy/compassion, leadership, and the ability to organize and handle a workload.

Hope that helps!

SOOO ANXIOUS!!! I know sanfrancisco said that the invitations would be sent out tomorrow but I still keep checking and checking and checking anyways!! Ahhhh I'm going crazy! haha :redbeathe  :redbeathe

I got my interview offer at 1pm today!!!!

I sent my stuff on 2nd dec and my last name begins with 'D', so I expect the others are on their way, good luck!

congrats application!

way to go!!! when is it?!

Thanks it's on the 11th April at 1pm, I reckon I have 24 hours off before worrying about that!!!

Nice job application! So did they just send you an email, or did you receive a letter in the mail?

@ application- first of all congratulations :) and secondly i wanted to ask have you applied as as international student? because i remember you saying that you are from UK?

Thank you both, I received an email - but I believe a letter should follow in the post? I have been sitting at my computer refreshing my email a lot over the last few weeks, not that it did any good, I got the email while I was out!

I am from the UK but I have permanent residency status so I am not an international student -thankfully for my wallet - a lot of my documents were from the UK and they seem to have been sent and transferred without a problem which was good

Oh i see.. that's nice :)

anyone else nervous?
