Hi everyone!

I recently received an offer of admission to Kwantlen's BSN Post-Baccalaureate Program in which you can get your Bachelors in Nursing in 27 months. This program is to commence in Sept 2013.

I was wondering if anyone has any feedback regarding this program. What's it like compared to the Undergraduate BSN 4-year program at Kwantlen? How is the program in general compared to other BC Nursing Programs? etc.... Any help or information is appreciated!

If you have also been accepted to the program or is thinking of applying, feel free to comment!

I live in Kelowna, so I will have to couch surf a bit but glad we don't have to relocate :)

Hi everyone, I have concerns if the Post-Baccalaureate has the same exact career opportunities as the 4-year BSN? Does anybody know?

Hey ocean waves! I'm sure they have the same career opportunities because you still get a BSN at the end. I'm just more concerned about whether the program is actually any good since there's literally no info on it besides the website and this forum. Hopefully those on this forum who started the program last sept will see this and gives us some answers :D

Hi giys(guys/girls)

I have got accepted for nursing post bac 2014. Im trying to figure out my accomodation earlier rather than later-Im from alberta. I see some of you are planning to live outside of campus or in a another city; how does that work?..isnt it like classes everyday-And it is in langley right the PB. Im from alberta so i'll be moving of course but im not sure where to if I should check couch surf or what to make of this. Any tips/advice would be super :s

hi,

I will be doing the program in a different city than Langley. I spoke to one of the program admissions people and was told I will have to go to Langley two weeks at the start and for a three month clinical/lab term during third semester. The rest of the program can be done in your city and they will work with you to figure out local practicums etc (thats what I was told). I hope to find out when the three month stint is asap

That's good that you can do the clinical in your own city. For some reason I was under the impression that all clinical sites we're going to be near the school and in nearby cities? I know for other nursing programs that my friends are in in bc you're usually in clinical groups with a bunch of other people which makes things a bit easier when your new to everything and have no idea what is going on. I hope they do the same for this program...

Hi all, I'm planning on applying to this program next year and I just wanted to check is any of you had volunteer experience related to nursing prior to applying. I want to increase my chances of getting in and I'm curious if volunteer work will help? thanks all

Hey rshiku! I don't think volunteer experience will help you for this program. I think theyre only looking to see if you have a degree and those bio and English classes

So far I'm pretty sure the program is a 'first come, first serve' type deal, as long as you have all of the pre-reqs! So basically apply for it the first day they take in applications and you're good to go, haha! Although they may add in a GPA component at some point when the program becomes more popular.

I still find it very strange that the majority of the program is online! It's really nice in regards to not having to commute out there every day, but I've only ever done in-class courses! I wonder what the workload is like and if you're still able to work part-time while doing the program? Anyone else planning on working still?

Hey swaybe, I'm actually having the same reservations as you. I'm not quite sure how we can learn nursing procedures in an online program? Although I know we have 2 weeks at the campus at two different points in the program. I might be going to the May 12th info session to get all my questions answered because at this point I have many questions and I want to get them answered before I pay a deposit.

i have done online courses before but only 1 or 2 here and there. Not a full program like this. I'm definitely planning on still working 3-4 days a week but it might be hard on those weeks where we have the 40hr/week clinicals.

Hey pinkbubbles and swaybe what cities are you going to be working from(online)

Im from Red deer alberta

hey pinkbubbles,

I know for sure we have two weeks at the start and a three month term where we have to be in Langley for semester three just not sure what dates...and the rest of practicum can be done in your hometown. I'm under the impression it's a tough program but through skype and various other technologies we will virtually be working together. Hopefully it will be a pleasant surprise, I'm excited!
