Hey ocean waves thanks for your answer. Are you able to ask your friend why he/she thinks there's only 4 people registered for the final semester? That sounds kinda sketchy lol

Kwantlen Polytechnic University Nursing Post-Baccalaureate Program
Hi ocean waves, I have the same worries as you. I don't know if we should try emailing the school asking how many people from the original cohort of 40 are still in the program now? But who knows if they'll even tell us the truth. Kwantlen seems like such a reputable school though so that's why I keep telling myself things will be ok but I'm also worried. Wish some of the people from this thread from last year could come in and offer information.

According to the website its 194.60$/credit plus 13.62$/credit for student fees. Semester one is 16 credits so if my math is right that should come up to around 3331.52 for the courses and then they told us about 1500$ for books. Our dollar per credit is the most out of all the other courses at kwantlen. I'm definitely going to get a student loan even though I'm working tons right now. It's just so expensive. Especially the first semester

Hey loch and jinx, congrats on the offers. I'll try and answer some of your questions. As for the program schedule the first 2 weeks we'll be in school full time as well as 2 additional weeks sometime later in the program. You can definitely live outside the lower mainland and complete the program as many on this forum have stated they are doing, but I'm not sure how that works when having to go in to school during open lab times for simulation practices? Maybe somebody else has an answer to that. I don't believe there is international opportunities for clinical practice but I would email P** to confirm that. As for the scrubs you can get them from the bookstore I believe!

Basically all she said about the online work is that we must make sure we don't fall behind. That's the biggest thing. She said online studying definitely isn't for everyone but they do a bunch of different interactive things to keep it interesting. She said its good if you have prior online studies experience because that will help you gage whether or not this program is for you or not. I think it should be okay as long as we keep up and don't fall behind. I'm sure anatomy and physiology online was difficult because bio in general is difficult so I can't even fathom doing that online lol. And yes she said after next summer (semester 3 I think it is) we can start to ESN because we will have that 10 week of clinical experience

Hey shellbar, do you think you will stick with kwantlen or go to the other school if you hear good news from them on the 30th? I attended the info session last week so I won't be attending the august one. Yes for sure lets get a Facebook group started!

Hey tehillah thanks so much for answering some of our questions. You're awesome. I was wondering if the 90 practical hours per semester were the same as clinicals or is that something totally different that must be done in addition to clinicals? Also, the minimum required gpa to proceed in the 4year program is a C. Is it the same for the post bacc? Thanks so much for your help!

O wow I didn't even look into that. Makes me weary too...

Kwantlen Polytechnic University Nursing Post-Baccalaureate Program
Hey guys, this is a random question but I was browsing the regular 4 year nursing program at kwantlen and it states that an C average has to be kept in each course to be able to proceed in the program. Nothing is however mentioned for the 27month program when I tried looking into it. Would it be the same?

Hey junoboy! Thanks for the insight. I guess what I'm worried about is how we will learn all the nursing skills required of nurses in an online program. But I will attend the info session so I can get all my questions answered! Hey pmckibbi, I'll be working from VancouverVancouver

Hey swaybe, I'm actually having the same reservations as you. I'm not quite sure how we can learn nursing procedures in an online program? Although I know we have 2 weeks at the campus at two different points in the program. I might be going to the May 12th info session to get all my questions answered because at this point I have many questions and I want to get them answered before I pay a deposit. i have done online courses before but only 1 or 2 here and there. Not a full program like this. I'm definitely planning on still working 3-4 days a week but it might be hard on those weeks where we have the 40hr/week clinicals.

Hey rshiku! I don't think volunteer experience will help you for this program. I think theyre only looking to see if you have a degree and those bio and English classes

That's good that you can do the clinical in your own city. For some reason I was under the impression that all clinical sites we're going to be near the school and in nearby cities? I know for other nursing programs that my friends are in in bc you're usually in clinical groups with a bunch of other people which makes things a bit easier when your new to everything and have no idea what is going on. I hope they do the same for this program...

Hey ocean waves! I'm sure they have the same career opportunities because you still get a BSN at the end. I'm just more concerned about whether the program is actually any good since there's literally no info on it besides the website and this forum. Hopefully those on this forum who started the program last sept will see this and gives us some answers
