Douglas College Psychiatric Nursing 2013

World Canada CA Programs

Hey,

Just wondering if anyone out there applied for the fall 2013 intake of psych nursing at douglas college? Or if you were accepted to the previous intake what your preferential score was? I just got mine today and I got a 12/20..Not sure if it will be enough to get me in or not:(

Sorry I forgot to add in that I only applied for the degree program not the diploma

I agree it does seem more interesting! And douglas is good because there's no waitlist. I think it's 2-3 years now at Vcc right. Anyways hopefully you'll get some good news pretty soon so your long wait can be over :)

Ya the website at VCC says 2 or more years but one of my coworkers had them tell her the exact number and it is more like 5+ years. Which is ridiculous if it's that long they need to change their pre reqs I think.

Oh wow 5 years..thats crazy. Don't know why they dont just say that on their website instead of 2 years. Guess they want people to keep applying

Yeah I think they want people to still take the pre req courses and then get on the waitlist so they can get more money.. I took anatomy and physiology and that cost me over a grand! Side note.. Got a letter from Douglas college today saying they are now calculating all the scores and will be offering seats.. I though it was a letter with a decision finally until I read it and got so mad because I have already had my score since last week! The suspense is killing me!

My points got calculated a few days ago...11 points like I thought :D

Now...we wait...I'm guessing we'll know for sure before March is over?

Oh gosh I know I got that exact letter yesterday! I think we should all hear something hopefully in the next few weeks since we all seem to have scores in the same range. Kacey, how did you find bio at Vcc? I still need to take bio but I heard it's hard at douglas..

It was pretty intense. When I took it I didn't take any other courses that semester because I heard how much information it is to take in. I was spending about 3-5 hours a day studying and ended up with a B. The thing about it is you really have to put time into studying because it's so easy to fall behind and then all the information will pile up on you but it was really interesting!

Thanks for your response! I guess it's a good thing I don't have to take too many courses in the first year of the program so I can spend the majority of my time concentrating on bio. Have you taken alot of your first year requirements or will you do them once you get into the program?

I didn't know you could take the first year courses before you were accepted! That would make life alot easier! The only course i have taken is anatomy and physiology but I didn't apply for credit transfer because I want to retake it. I figure since I already took it I can use that to my advantage to boost my GPA and to be honest the teacher I had for part one of it was horrible he didn't care what our grades were and would just add 10% to all our tests so his class average looked better.

Haha that's too funny! That's kind of sweet he would add marks to better his class average :p that's a good idea though to redo it. And yes the first year courses for psych are just random courses like bio, psychology,English and electives. As far as I know we don't even have psych courses until second year (according to the website). Thankfully alot of those courses I have so I just have psychology and bio to really worry about. I just hope we hear something soon. Hopefully next week lol

.

I heard psychology is pretty easy. And yeah it was nice of him to boost our marks but he did it to cover the fact that he wasn't teaching! He used class time to give us his opinions about life and talk about politics and go on these long tangents about random facts. Alot of people ended up withdrawing from his class because they got so sick of it. But my teacher for part 2 was so thorough and amazing I loved it.
