BN through Athabasca or Macewan

Hi Everyone!

I am currently an LPN student starting my second semester at Norquest. However I have been offered a spot at Grant Macewan for the RN program. My question is, is it better to go straight into RN program or should I graduate as an LPN and get my experience and then get my bachelor of nursing through Athabasca. If so I am wondering how long it will take to complete the program at athabasca and how expensive it is. I guess the upside here is that I can work part time as an LPN while upgrading but alot of people said it is very demanding. Your help is appreciated.

I hear it is a pretty demanding program and I am debating if I should just skip all the hassle and go to Macewan. I also here that they tend to hire more RN'S who have been LPN'S, is this true?

Go to macewan. It will be faster in the end to become an rn. Unless you can't afford to go to school for 4 years for financial reasons then take the lpn and do the bridging program. Hope this helps

Hi there,

May I ask what GPA you had at Norquest that had you accepted? I'm completely torn between taking another year at Grant Macewan to upgrade my GPA or take my seat at Norquest this fall term.
