BCIT September 2017 Intake

Hey everyone. I've seen some threads from previous intakes, but none for this upcoming one, so I thought I'd make my own.. and hopefully receive some responses.

Just wondering how many of you have applied already? And with what GPA, prior education (# of credits, past degrees), and work/volunteer hours or experience you are applying with.

Also what grades have you gotten in the pre-reqs?

I myself have got 35 credits at SFU with a 3.14 GPA..

I've been volunteering at a care home for a few months now.

My grades:

Chem 11 - 96%

Pre Calc 12 - 77%

ENGL 1177 - B

Anatomy and Physiology (1) - A-

Anatomy and Physiology (2) - B+

Psychology - A

For general education I got A's in both classes.

I just thought it would be helpful to see what others are applying with, so we can get a sense of our own standing and where we need to improve on. I hope in this thread we can all exchange tips and get to know eachother incase we do all end up going to BCIT together :)

Congrats! So are you going with Langara or BCIT?

I'd go for BCIT coz it's a 10 minute walk from my place and their program is promising :]

lots of congrats to those accepted!! for those that haven't been accepted, does your Application Status still say "Pending Department Review"?

and does anyone know how many seats they have already offered/how many are left? thanks!

Mine is still showing "pending department review". I think the selection committee has reviewed all the application since the acceptances have been sent out. Guessing decision can't be made without viewing all the files.

Hi everyone!

I got my acceptance e-mail last week so I really look forward to meeting everyone in August! I'll definitely need all the help I can get.

Odd questions to throw out: I was taken by surprise that class starts end of August and not September (they did say September intake!). Does anyone know why?

This was my second time applying so never give up for those that didn't get in.

Just waitlisted today! Somewhat grateful, but also in a worse position that being rejected (where I could just plan the upcoming term and improve my application)- my entire summer and next year enrolment for schools, finance, is waiting on this decision, sitting at a stalemate. Crossing my fingers!

**A kind word to those that have been offered a seat but know they will not attend: Please let BCIT know as soon as you know you won't be attending this program, so they may offer the seat to others on the waitlist as soon as possible. Many of those waitlisted have to wait to see if seats become available, and have to make life decisions like moving, pay tuitions/down payments on houses, enrol in other programs, start summer classes, jobs by certain deadlines these upcoming months. The later that they are accepted/rejected from the waitlist, the higher jeopardy the family, financial, academic and other issues of their lives are put at stake. This is hopefully a little reminder during this time, speaking to the humanity and compassion in all of us as future colleagues. As we all make insightful decisions, sending the best wishes to everyone, those making these decisions, those attending and those pursing a career elsewhere, good luck!
