West Coast University LA Jan 2015

U.S.A. California

Planning to start this coming January now that my military benefits are good to go.

Attended the Information Session. Very good visit. Getting my transcripts turned in for eval. Only have maybe 3 classes to do prior to moving into the nursing portion which is cool.

Any other future students planning to start in January?

Would love to meet other soon to be potential classmates.

There is a reason schools like these exist

To reel in the unsuspecting suckers.

No personal attacks on you two. Just stating there is NO reason a BSN should cost such an outrageous amount. I know you would choose a cheaper program if you were accepted. Anybody would.

And there are other places that we can apply too. May not work with schedules, times and or family. True it may be pricey but for some it works out better.

Its the students choice, No One Elses to make for them. I am not going to get into an ADN when I have a bachelor degree already. And most programs are not meeting my scheduling which can not change. If there was a program that would work then I would go for it. Right now I am in between two schools that will fit. So who care what anyone else thinks. I gotta do what I gotta do.

To keep it clear for anyone who is reading or wishing to comment negatively.

Just because a student decides to go to West Coast University, it does not mean they can not get into another program or they failed or have low grades. It is just the best choice for what they have going on in their lives and it probably works better for them. Pricey or not.

I have seen people say this and it is not true for every student attending or planning to attend.

There is a saying "if you have nothing nice to say then it's best not to say it". Especially coming from folks who never attended the school. Different story if it's an actual student.

Many students love the school and have successful jobs so each student will have their own experience. Not folks wanting to bash the school cause it cost too much for them.

I have seen enough posts about the positives of the school on here and other places from actual students and graduates. So people's opinions who never attended and one or two hiring officials who come here and make statements that they will hire a public university over a private university grad when all the grads passed the same test showing they are competent for the job will not effect my decision on which school is best for me. This school is not a buy your degree, you have to work just as hard and it is not easy to get through. You better know your stuff or you won't make it.

So to anyone who is looking to possibly attend. Please hear from the actual students and graduates. I do hear each campus has a difference in how instructors teach and treat students. LA I haven't hear bad about but I have heard bad reviews for the Ontario campus. I am no where near there so I won't need to worry about it. All others are stating opinions. You choose what is right for you! That's it! That's All!

Have a wonderful day!

I finally decided to do it! I'm 35 and a mother of two little girls. I can't wait any longer to go through the nursing process. I can't wait another year it's extremely challenging to be in a lottery or alternate list and just be waiting, I've kept busy taking classes for general education but I just am tired of it. So I'm starting January in Anaheim.

It's sad to see the nurses here already speaking so negatively about others and their personal choices to go to school. Bottom line is at the end of the nursing program anywhere you attend, you sit for the NCLEX and take the same test other nursing students across the U.S take. You either pass or you don't. So ICU man unless your going to pay our bills keep your unnecessary and rather insulting comments to a minimum. At the end of my nursing program it's up to me to pass my boards and get employed as an R.N. Not my choice of school. I work in Clinic Administration and work with very well known hospitals and doctors across Los Angeles county. We all hire based on the candidate's skills and experience. The school you graduated from is not what makes you a great nurse. Good luck to you.

Bottom line is at the end of the nursing program anywhere you attend, you sit for the NCLEX and take the same test other nursing students across the U.S take.

Yep. Sure do. And at the end of the nursing program, some of us will graduate with manageable, reasonable, or no debt, and others, will be drowning in debt for several years to come.

You mention I should keep my insulting comments to a minimum. If the truth is insulting to you, that would indicate you see a flaw in this school and the decision to enroll.

I would like you to name one justifiable reason for a BSN program to cost 136k thousand dollars.

Go for it, I am all ears.

Thats you and your decision. As I said before its no ones decison where they go to school but the student. No one needs to justify anything to ANYONE! Their choice is not for you to make. It is their choice and they don't have to answer to anyone about their decision. No one knows the financial situation of anyone in here. No one knows if anyone is paying cash and can afford. NO ONE KNOWS! Whether they can afford is no one s business. How they are getting their funding is NO ONES Business.

If you are going to the school with all your pre-reqs done you are not paying 136K anyway. I know of a private school that cost almost the same amount and they have been training medical professional for 100 years and are very reputable and their students are very highly recommended. Just because a school cost alittle more doesn't mean they have poor education and it does not mean every student will not meet the competency as a student in a state university. Each student must show they are competent when they go for that NCLEX license and Skills Testing. Every student will take the same test to get their license.

As fars as education, Each student is responsible for their own education. They choose to work hard for their license or they choose to skate and lack and barely make it. That is not the fault of the school. That is the responsbility of the student who choose to go to nursing school and not take their education serious.

You can bash a school and talk down to potential students for making a choice that is best for them if you want. Your opinions don't matter. So why waste your breath trying to down a school and call people names because you chose your route and think everyone else is stupid for taking the route you took. It is NOT your decision.

Besides. I did not make this thread for people who want to bash schools and potential students. I made it to see who else was applying and any current students to comment on their experience. My mother always told me, if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it. I say the same here.

My thread was created to hear from others who applied and those who are attending.

That's It! That's All!

You make an impossible request for reasoning, ICUman. People who go to WCU rationalize their choice.

All I know is at the end, I can sit and take the NCLEX and pursue my CCN. How I got there and how much I invested in my career is my own business. My kids will be proud of their mama no matter where I choose to go. My patients will be truly cared for and I will be a responsible patients advocate. The end.

Hi I know my post might be late but how is this school so far like your classes if you can give me input. I'm deciding of attending WCU after I finish my medical assisting course.

Well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
