West Coast University LA Jan 2015

Planning to start this coming January now that my military benefits are good to go.

Attended the Information Session. Very good visit. Getting my transcripts turned in for eval. Only have maybe 3 classes to do prior to moving into the nursing portion which is cool.

Any other future students planning to start in January?

Would love to meet other soon to be potential classmates.

I may be starting in January since I just got rejected to a community college program :( can I ask you what classes you needed to take? Also, how do you plan to pay for it ?? Any advice would greatly help. Thanks

If you have your general education and science courses done (Anatomy & Physiology 1&2 with lab and Microbiology with Lab) you can get in and tuition will be lessened some. If not you can start from the beginning and complete your whole degree but it will cost a lot more. It's up to you.

I have a non-nursing bachelor of science degree and have done my sciences. I do need to retake my A&P 2 because of the low grade due to an inexperienced instructor my class had causing all of our grades to be too low for nursing school.

I am an Army Vet so I have my Post 9/11 GI Bill, and possible the VA Yellow Ribbon program as well as financial aid so hopefully with all that my education is covered. If I decide to start there it will be January.

I am preparing for HESI now. Trying to take it hopefully next month.

Also go to their information session because they give you the whole run down of the program as well as a tour. You can decide then if you want to attend. Get all college transcripts for anything you have done in college. You will need officials. They prefer you walk them in instead of mailing them. They must be official and envelope remains sealed and given to them.

Thank you so much for your honesty and advice! It has been very helpful. I will do all the steps to see if this is something I really want to get into, if so I may see you in January:) that's when I plan to start.

Great!!!! I have been looking between West Coast and Western Governors. It's been a very difficult decision but I have to go with what's best. No matter what we can all work together and support one another. Good luck and let me know what you decide.

I looked into wgu too, I just don't have a great gpa sincd they are also competitive. I just have to really think about it, specially bc even though I don't have kids yet it will still affect the future of my family and my husband and I will make the best decision possible together. Either way I hope I get to go. I feel like this is it for me you know? I will be keeping update as best I can :)

I feel you. My issue is working. I'm a single mom and have to work full time to keep the house going. I will need to change to night shift and accomplish school during the day. Luckily my kids are old enough to take care of themselves. They are high schoolers.

I am kind of hoping I can get through WCU instead. I will be able to retake my A&P 2 at WCU instead of online or somewhere else. WGU doesn't offer those courses.

Guys, have some common sense and go to a school that doesn't cost 130k thousand dollars.

Attendance at such a pricey school will lead to regret.

Ignorance will not protect you when financial institutions are calling for repayment.

So your telling us we do not have common sense and are ignorant for choosing WCU as a school of choice? Because it's more pricey than other schools. The school is personal preference. No need to tell folks they are ignorant for choosing what school is best for them.

I know all about students loans. Been there done that. I have a bachelor degree already. I don't just have student loans paying for my education. I'm sure a student who decides to attend any school will have the means to pay for it. Does not mean they lack common sense and are ignorant. We are all adults and can make sound decisions about our lives.

So why did you feel the need to make such a comment??????

It is so ignorant of you to make a comment like that, you do not know the circumstances in which we are basing our decision on. There is a reason schools like these exist and it is unnecessary to bring anyone down just because they are doing something different from what you would do. That to me, is not having common sense.

Thank you Mes7kk. I agree.
