UCLA MECN FALL 2013

U.S.A. California

Published

Have been looking around and haven't really seen a topic on this yet. This is my dream school/program. I am from Seattle so I am having to get a lot of info from them long-distance instead of going to an information session. Has anyone gone to an information session yet?

Does anyone want to email D? Haha. I called but no answer.

I think I emailed her too many times, but I know she does email back quite quickly. I can email her again at the end of the month. @mmccann44, are u still on waitlist too?

As of today, 25 people have been offered admissions from waitlist

@tweety2013 thank you for the update! I was starting to lose hope :( but this makes me a little happier :)

For those of u who are accepted when is the orientation? Thanks you :)[/quote']

Orientation is July 31 and Aug 1.

I might actually be giving my waitlist spot up too. I was just recently admitted into usf school of nursing

Congrats on USF!!! i sent you a PM as well =)

Congrats on USF!!! @tweety2013

Has anyone done a cost outline for the UCLA MECN program? I recently got accepted to USF, but the price tag there is high. UCLA is my number one choice, but I'm still on the waitlist at UCLA and Nursing School is not something I want to put off another year. I already looked on the Tuition/Fees website for UCLA and the cost seems to be ~$15K/year...this seems too good to be true!

Hi Tweety, it sounds like we are in the same boat. I recently got the call from USF and classes start tomorrow! I'm still debating between accepting USF and trying to wait it out with UCLA...anything in particular sway your mind toward USF? Just curious! :)

Also, for everyone--I called on Friday and they let in the 26th person last week!

Hi @roostermagee, were u at the orientation on Wednesday for usf?

UCLA is also my top choice. But there were a couple reasons why I decided to attend USF. 1.starts in may (4 months earlier than UCLA) which means I would graduate USF in May 2015, 4 months ahead of UCLA. 2. I am from the Bay Area so I would save money on housing and food by Living at home. 3. Smaller class size at usf as opposed to 90 students admitted to UCLA. 4. Since I am still waitlisted for UCLA, there is still a chance I might not get in and I definitely do not want to wait another year to get into nursing school. The process is so stressful.

I also checked tuition for UCLA and it comes out to about 40-45k for 2 years (because it is a professional degree) which is 30k cheaper than USF. But if I choose UCLA than the living and food cost would probably come out to be pretty similar. That is how I thought about it. I hope that helps!
