UCLA MECN FALL 2013

U.S.A. California

Published

Have been looking around and haven't really seen a topic on this yet. This is my dream school/program. I am from Seattle so I am having to get a lot of info from them long-distance instead of going to an information session. Has anyone gone to an information session yet?

Hi @roostermagee, were u at the orientation on Wednesday for usf?

UCLA is also my top choice. But there were a couple reasons why I decided to attend USF. 1.starts in may (4 months earlier than UCLA) which means I would graduate USF in May 2015, 4 months ahead of UCLA. 2. I am from the Bay Area so I would save money on housing and food by Living at home. 3. Smaller class size at usf as opposed to 90 students admitted to UCLA. 4. Since I am still waitlisted for UCLA, there is still a chance I might not get in and I definitely do not want to wait another year to get into nursing school. The process is so stressful.

I also checked tuition for UCLA and it comes out to about 40-45k for 2 years (because it is a professional degree) which is 30k cheaper than USF. But if I choose UCLA than the living and food cost would probably come out to be pretty similar. That is how I thought about it. I hope that helps!

That does help, thank you! I was not notified until Friday around 10am! I guess 2 people did not show up to orientation and there were some spots to fill. I already live in SF, so there is no relocation for me, but I don't live at home so no money saved there :(. Argh, looks like I will be spending the next few hours deciding!

Thanks again for the information, good luck tomorrow at USF! And good luck to everyone else waiting at UCLA!

Hi Tweety it sounds like we are in the same boat. I recently got the call from USF and classes start tomorrow! I'm still debating between accepting USF and trying to wait it out with UCLA...anything in particular sway your mind toward USF? Just curious! :)[/quote']

Congrats on USF! I just sent you a PM.

I'm glad to see the wait list is still moving....slowly...but at least its moving! If anyone else gets an update please let us know :)

Also, for everyone--I called on Friday and they let in the 26th person last week!

Thank you so much for the update! And congrats on USF!! That's a GREAT school and program. And please everyone....keep the waitlist updates coming they are SO MUCH appreciated!!!

Thank you!

Hey @eoneil I've PMd you but can't tell if it went through... Doesn't show up in my sent folder?? :/ let me know if u didn't get it. Good luck and keep us updated on any WL movement ;)

@mmccann44 I did get your PM and I thought i responded back hmmm...but anyway thank you and I will update the site if I hear anything...hopefully that is soon!

Hi guys! I hadn't registered for this site until today but I have been an active reader because I am also waitlisted for the program and have appreciated all of the updates thus far!!! When I didn't see any recent activity I decided to email for myself and just wanted to let everyone waiting know that I was told today that they are up to number 27...At first I was really optimistic about my odds but like many of you I am also beginning to lose hope although I, unfortunately, do not have a back up plan for this year. Good luck to everyone still waiting and hopefully more good news will follow!!!

@chococatt thank you so much for the update, I really appreciate it. By any chance do you know if they have accepted #27 or that is the next person in line? Thanks again :)

The exact words of *** were "We Admitted Up To Number 27 On The Alternate List" So I assumed that meant they accepted 27 but I could be wrong... :/

I thought I read it somewhere on this board, but I can't find it now. Do we know when orientation is for the program? The admissions office said that more movement usually happens after the orientation session(s?).

The orientation dates are on page 44 of the thread as July 31 and August 1

@chococatt thanks for specifying what she said! It is a little confusing and I'm still unsure if #27 has or has not been accepted but I guess we will find out :) Keep the updates coming if anyone else hears anything!
