I am seeking an RN school. I have all my pre-nursing courses finished, I am surgical tech. and a CNA1. How long are the waiting list in Ca.

Specializes in Corrections, Psych, Med-Surg.

1) every school has its own waiting list

2) waiting list lengths vary from school to school

3) as a rule of thumb, the less expensive the school, the longer the waiting list

4) community colleges have the longest waiting lists

5) these days, even some of the more expensive, private schools have waiting lists as well

6) you might check out samuel merritt college of nursing in oakland, california, for a look at one private, expensive school http://www.allnursingschools.com/schools/ID124/

At the time I was looking into schools, San Jose State was the only California State University without a waiting list. The community colleges in my area had long lists so I packed up and moved north. You just gotta call or visit any potentials schools you want to attend and ask the requirements.

My school has a long waiting list (ADN program in So. Cal), but, if you have all your pre-reqs done, you can get in relatively fast. I only spent one semester on my waiting list. PM me if you want more info.

I know for sure Compton Community College has no waiting list. They may be the only school without a waiting list for their ADN program.

As long as you got what they required with the right credits you can apply and get right into the program when they hold the application time. It is a pretty good school from what I hear.

They require

Anatomy 1 4 units

Physiology 1 4 units

Microbiology 1 5 units (principles of micro)

Psychology 9 3 units (human Devel)

Intro to Nursing 2 Units

Nutrition 3 units

I hope this helps

Long Beach City College lists is pretty long

Los Angeles Harbo Counselor told me their is not really long at all. He said you can get in quick as long as you are done with their pre reqs.

Me myself need to start with my pre-reqs and get them done. I am having a hard time finding a school that can work with my hours. I am active duty right now and can't aford to stop working but I am trying to get my school done because I want to get into an ADN program after I get my pre-reqs out the way.

I hope this helps

Here is a link to the California Board of Nursing's list of schools.

I just looked into the schools in the bay area and I'm not sure of thhhe waiting list but know that last year they had about 300 applications for about 50 spots this includes ADn, BSN & entry MSN programs!

Yikes it really stinks. I am waiting to hear if I got in.

Best of luck!
