San Joaquin Delta College Spring 2013

U.S.A. California

I'm getting ready to apply and just took my TEAS V. Didn't do as well as I would have liked. I'm a litle bummed and was wondering was some of the nursing students TEAS V and overall points were for this upcoming Fall 2013 year now that the lowered the number of students to 40.

Thanks :specs:

I'm not exactly sure what the lowest score was, but 10% are picked by lottery so its always worth a try! Good luck! :-)

I heard it was 59, but I could be wrong. I wish they posted statistics like they do with the program at sac state.

I just submitted my app....I think my scoe was 61.5. Anyone else want to share scores? I'm not to hopeful with mine, but good luck to you all!!

I'm about to submit mine too, i think my overall right now is 62.5 which is extremely sad!! i would be confident if they were taking 70 like usual but since they're only taking 40 i'm really worried this time. Sucks that they're not taking more. If anyone does indeed know what the bottom score was last semester when they accepted 40 as well that would be really helpful. Hope to hear more comments

Hi everyone. It is my first time to apply for this school. I estimated that I got 69. I did horrible on my TEAS test which I did not have enough time to study before the exam and I took it anyways. I was spying the past fall 2012. I saw a few people saying that the cutoff was 59, but everyone said they were not sure about it. Couple people said that people high 50s and low 60s were eventually accepted into the program as well from alternate list. However, only the result can tell. Wish everyone good luck!

All we can do is wait now! I feel awesome just having submitted my application. We are all one step closer. :-) I wish you all the best of luck! I do have one question though. Did anyone else pay attention to their application # when reviewing app? I was # 920, does anyone know if that started at 1? Is there really going to b over 1000 people applying?

Hey dlr13! I'm a Delta student and your score looks awfully familiar haha. Are you a Delta student as well?

Yes, I am:)

Yes, I am:)

Awesome! I have yet to submit my application. I've constantly looked at it. It's already finished and filled out but I have yet to hit the "submit" button. My application number was 1047 and a friend told me that number did not indicate how many applicants there were. This number of applicants is closer to the 500-600 range. I got that number from the lady at the front office.

It seems that we are all worried about what our point value is. Some have said in the past that they are in the 70 or 80 point range, but I am taking the common sense route here. I don't believe anyone should be discouraged if their score is in the low 60's. Here is my opinion on the point value. The counselor for nursing stated in all her years at Delta, only 6 students have submitted applications with a total of all A's in their sciences. And if you are the exception and have received the same recently...I commend you! I believe receiving 2A's and a 1B in your sciences is the norm. I also beleive there are more students with 2 B's and 1A in their sciences.

Again using common sense, with grades of 2A's and 1B, you receive 32 points for your sciences, if you received A's in Nutrition and Eng 1A - another 10pts, special circumstances 2.5 points, foreign language 2.5, I will even throw in an AA degree for 2.5 points and volunteer points at 1 pt. Now let's throw in a TEAS score of 82 - another 16 points = for a GRAND TOTAL of 66.5 points!

Again, common sense, to calculate a higher score the scenario would have to be as follows - BA 5 points, 2 A's and a B for sciences - 32 points, Nutrition and English (A's in both) 10 points, special circumstances 2.5, foreign language 2.5, and I will throw in EMT at 2 points, volunteer at 1 point and a TEAS at 90 - 20 points. A GRAND TOTAL of 75 points!

Again, there are other exceptions and I am not stating that someone cannot earn 83 points as a total score. But, as you can see by computing the values, and using a little common sense, these people are the exception and are to be commended. I am just trying to give scenarios based on the statistics I have received from students that are willing to be honest with their points and trying to encourage those that have earned points in the 60 range. I am open to comments/suggestions for what I have just posted.

Again, if you are one the students that have points in the 70's or 80's, I am not trying to devalue your exceptional hard work. Just food for thought here with a little inference.

That is very true.....But it's just a little bit more nerve racking to have a low score with the program only selecting 40 students, and 10 alternates now. Best of luck to us all!!

I was told by the Health Science counselor the same thing about very few people get all A's in the science classes...also she said lowest points that got in last semester was 60....I know a couple people that got moved from the alternate list into the program last minute that had in the 56-58 range....plus with version V TEAS the point reflection is a little higher per percentages, for example an 82% yields 21 points and a 90% yields 29......still I was told 60points was the golden number...Good Luck to everyone!

That is very true. My counselor said the samething that only 6 have had all A's in prerequites. I am very proud to say I am number 7, and that's where most of my points came from. Although I have to say that I haven't met another person in any of those classes that had done the same. I think most people score in 60's or under. I even have friends applying with around 40 or so points. You shouldn't be discouraged. Different people apply each semester so the scores are going to vary.
