I applied to Surgical, Med/Surg and Tele. I am from Santa Clarita. My packet did not arrive until Friday. When did you turn in your packet to already get an interview? Did any of you have clinical at the hospital? When you talked to the director did he state how many applied or how many they are taking?
It went really well (I think) although some of the questions took me by surprise and were rough to answer. I'm not going to go into the clinical questions in depth since they were made up by them on the spot and you won't get the same ones.
1. Be prepared to talk a ton about yourself. They're particular and want people who are good fit *people* not necessarily the best clinically trained. As they said "you can't teach someone to be a great nurse, but you can teach them how to do an IV." You need to sell yourself as best you can, especially if you're not from the area!
2. Bring multiple copies of your résumé and put together a portfolio of your accomplishments if you can.
3. Be prepared to answer both professional nursing (ie HIPPA, hand hygiene, delegation) and clinical questions. A lot were based around "you come in and your patient has these symptoms and these vital signs. Go."
Thanks for the info, it sounds like you had a good interview!
Did you get any information regarding how many they are interviewing or the timeline? Were their other people interviewing around the same time as you? How far after you submitted did you get the call for an interview?...sorry for all the questions, just wondering if they have made all the calls for interviews already and if i should mentally count myself out! Thanks...and congrats to you! I hope you hear good news
