I am a prospective student for Samuel Merritt University for the cohort starting in Spring 2014. Campus of choice is San Mateo. I am considering the ELMSN-NP program as well since the prereqs are identical.

1. I was seeking information on TEAS test experience. What is the cut off for this test to get in? I have to take this test within the next few weeks in order to make the July 1st cutoff application. (I wanted to take this test after I finished my prereqs which will be completed by Sept 14th) Currently I am finishing up A&P I lecture/lab and Nutrition courses within the next 2 weeks, also currently taking Microbiology lecture/lab which will be complete by Aug 24th and signed up for A&P II lecture lab, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology courses starting at the end of June and ending Sept 14th 2014 to make me 100% complete. I am currently making an A in all the courses attempting now. I have an undergrad gpa of 3.1 and science gpa of 3.5

I am currently on the east coast and have been serving in the military for 6 years. I lived in Orange County prior to joining for 6 months and have visited California numerous times and loved every second of it so I know this is where I want to end up, hence is why I am applying for programs out there.

I also wanted to know about anyones experience in previous cohorts at any of the campuses for both ABSN and ELMSN programs.

If anyone else is applying for Spring 2014 please respond to this thread as well that way we can get to know each other somewhat and give a chance to those that get accepted to start networking. Wish everyone the best of luck!!

I am a prospective student as well, I know academics are key, but life experiences are just as valuable then a measly test score. From what I've heard, SMU looks for diverse individuals not just a book worm. Being born n raised in California, you couldn't of picked a better State! Deadline is July 1st! Best of luck!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the El-MSN is in Oakland. I'm not applying because Oakland is not a city I would want to live in...check out the crime rate...

They have both fall and spring entry for ELMSN. Fall entry locates at Oakland and Spring entry locates at Sacramento.

Hi mrkim, I am applying for the ABSN program for spring 14 in Sacramento as well. I almost didn't because i was discouraged with the TEAS, but i hope by some miracle they will let me in. It seems that you have valuable experience that they will definitely love. I on the other hand had a horrible first couple years of college and my grades were all pretty low, however my last 60 units is a 3.5, Science gpa is a 3.4, and prerequisite gpa is a 3.75. I scored a 76% on the teas :/, but was able to pull a 90% on reading and 83 on Math, the math was simple but i ran out of time :(((((. anyways hopefully we will get in and not many people are applying this time around!

Mike,

I spoke with an admissions counselor a few weeks ago and I believe you have to report your TEAS score on your application. I could be wrong about that though - I just took mine on Wednesday.

I recommend getting the ATI Teas study Manual. I read studied it pretty hard for 13 days straight and got an advanced score.

Dyumul07 - the counselor said get your best scores in reading and math - so hopefully you make it through!!!

Best of luck to all!

I applied for the sacramento ABSN 2014 entry aswell. I am so upset about my TEAS scores but there is nothing I can do about it now for this go around. Hopefully my previous working experience, letters of reference and writing samples will do. This has been a long hall for me getting to this point and the wait till November will be a long one. I am finishing up physiology this summer which will hopefully give my science GPA a 4.0, my last 60 units is about 3.57. Then in the fall I have Stats and Patho. I scored a 72.7 on the TEAS:( So frustrating!! Fingers are crossed for me. Do any of you know if we can apply for the summer while having an application out for spring? Good luck to all!

Hi AlysonCasey,

They send out their decisions in November? Whoa!

Anyone apply to the EL-MSN program??? I haven't seen a thread.

Okay so I have already sent my application in for Spring 2014 cohort for San Mateo campus. I will be sending in another for the EL-MSN program shortly. I completed my TEAS a few weeks ago. I was surprised that I ran out time on the Math. After speaking with the admissions rep for Samuel Merritt I was told the 3 scores they look at is your Adjusted Individual Score, Reading, and Math.

I had 78.8% adjusted, 90% Reading, 83% Math. Crossing my fingers and praying at this point. I am trying not to ponder on it because November is so far away!

Hello All,

I just wanted to wish you all luck with your applications to SMU. I went through the very same stress and the nail-biting waiting process last year. I was accepted into the Fall 2013 ELMSN-FNP program at the Oakland campus. I'm not sure about the timeline for Spring entry, but I submitted my app. on 10/31/12 (deadline was 11/1) and was invited to interview 1/29/13. Interviews began 2/9 (I was in the very first group of 16 at 9:00am on day 1 of interviews) and ended on 2/23. They interviewed over 200 people and I was called on 2/24 (on a Sunday afternoon) and offered early admission into the program. I'm currently finishing up my last pre-req which is Stats (2 weeks left in the semester thank goodness) and then I'll have about 3 weeks until orientation begins. I'm pretty excited and know that there's so much work ahead of me, but this is my dream and I'm up for the challenge. If anyone has any questions, I'll try to answer them to the best of my ability so ask away!

I applied to the ELMSN case management program (Sacramento 2014) and was wondering what type of questions were asked during the interview?
