Samuel Merritt - ELMSN FNP - Sacramento 2012

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone,

I did not see a post for the Spring 2012 ELMSN - FNP program in Sacramento, so I thought I would start one for all the hopeful FNPs.

A little about me:

My name is Jennifer and I live in Rancho Cordova. I have two young boys, 3 years old and 9 months, and this is the first year I am applying to the ELMSN FNP program. I have an undergraduate and graduate degree in Health Administration/Education and realized I want more patient interaction. So, here I am hoping I get accepted.

Best of luck to all the applicants!!

JeninCA,

I'm sorry to hear that. Don't give up!! Apply Apply Apply! Best wishes!!

JeninCA: So sorry to hear that! In my experience, so many things really do turn out for the best, but you just can't tell until you are looking back on it all. When you do join a nursing class -- this one next time or another one -- trust that it will be a better fit than this one would be at this time. Also a plus: this way you may get a few more intensive bonding months with your sweet kids that you might have missed otherwise. Best of luck to you!!

Hi JeninCA,

I completely agree with BeHere. I was waitlisted last year for ELMSN FNP, my number never came up, and now I'm waiting to hear about the various programs I applied to this year. I was disappointed about not making it in, but I ended up having such a crazy year with my kids that I really think that there was a purpose behind not getting in then. I've realized that 3 1/2 years is a terribly long time in my kids' lives that I would be missing out on. So this year I've applied to 2 ABSN programs because of the shorter time commitment. I can always go for my FNP later. I've really learned how much I value my time with my kids, and I decided that I'm not willing to sacrifice over 3 years. Anyway, believe that you will get there, the time just wasn't right. After all, you were good enough to interview, right? Either way, it's still hard news, and I'm sorry you didn't get in.

Hello everyone!! I came across this forum as I was searching for housing in the sacramento area. Congrats to all those who have been accepted!! I got the call on tuesday of last week for the fnp program and am currently looking for a place to live near samuel merritt. Any suggestions??? I am also looking for a roommate (female). If anyone is interested please send me a message.

JeninCA- don't loose heart! I completely agree with maia99 and BeHere, everything happens for a reason. You will know what this reason is down the road, but in the mean time life can only go on. I am sure your desire to succeed will take you far. Best of luck!

@heartfelttouch any news yet?

Hey all. I got waitlisted NR3....the odds seem good. I really hope I get in. Anyone else waitlisted or have been waitlisted before and whether or not they got in on what number??? CONGRATS to all the early admits tho! so awesome!

@ Maia99

What waitlist number were you if I may ask??

Hey JeninCA,

I wasn't offered admission, but I was added onto the waitlist =/

@janeenC

Wat waitlist number are you if I may ask? I am nr3.....

shschobert,

I was 11. It was kind of crazy last year since there weren't many options for 2nd baccalaureates in the Sac area. Pretty much everybody with a BS who needed to stay in the Sac area had to apply to either of SMU's programs offered here. I think that with Sac State opening up to 2nd Baccs this year, more people may consider that route since it is so much less expensive. Anyway, I didn't stand a chance last year, but I know that they made it through 3 at least. I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in. Good Luck to you!!

@ maia99

hmmm interesting. thanks for all that great info! Sac State huh? I will have to look into that. Cheaper is always tempting! The other school I have lined up is Roseman University in Henderson (near LV) Nevada. its a 14 month accelerated bsn program. problem is the ridiculous price and the newness of it so that the program is severely unorganized. so I am putting in the wait time for SMU. thanks again and good luck to u !

@smschobert,

I'm good - just found out I got into Sac State's new ABSN, so no matter what, I'm going to nursing school. Yeehah!!! Still waiting to hear from SMU about their ABSN, but it finally seems that it's meant to be.

darn i wish i knew about SAC State, I would have applied and most likely gotten in just by looking at the way they accept people. haha. CONGRATS! so crazy that they don't even interview. that is a fast process! i wonder how many applied. oh well I guess I can try that next near too if need be.
