So, the applications are due today (September 1st) for summer admission to ABSN program at Samuel Merritt. How does everyone feel about their application?? :up: :down: What campus did you apply to?

Is anyone else anxious to enroll in classes? I just tried...and when it said "hey dum dum it's not time yet" I still added courses to my shopping cart knowing that it wouldn't let me enroll. So. Dorky.

BUT - I went ahead and got my first loan for $25K. Sallie Mae has a deferred payment option, and the interest ended up being something like 3.2% (it was as low as 2.25% for paying the interest while in school...which it turns out was close to $50/month - which I'd have to multiple by 3). I think I'm going to do Sallie Mae, pay interest while you're in school option for my second and third semesters. I like how aggressive Sallie Mae is in their repayment schedule, not to mention the super low interest rate.

So I picked my cosigner because his credit was probably the best out of everyone I know (FIL), but then Sallie Mae sent me an email saying I wouldn't have been accepted for a loan on my own...because my credit score was 810? :uhoh3: I have no idea. a) that's awesome I had no idea I was so good at having no money and therefor no credit card debt, and b) why the heck wasn't I approved on my own then?? Oh well.

Wannabnurse81!!!! Congratulations!! You have been though a whirlwind with this. Lately I have found myself coming on here just to see if you got it. I am so happy for you! Now time to scramble to get all the pre-admission formalities done! :cheers:

Online Bloodborne Pathogens Training in OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens

Just did my bloodborne pathogen cert. Took about 90 min or less. $19.95 and OSHA approved. Looked to be one of the most legit ones available online...

I just got an email and am now #13 on the Oakland waitlist. I was #29 so there was definitely some movement on the waitlist. I have no plans to change cohorts but just wanted to let everyone know.

The email also stated that there are a few spots left in April and June cohort that are on a first come first serve basis.

So, I still have not seen anything in all of the information that I have received on bloodborne pathogens?? Is this on a checklist somewhere or what??

Tammy - Wow... that is a LOT of movement!! When did you get the email?? I got an email on 3/28 that I was number 12 on the wait-list??? I am beginning to wonder how this whole wait-list thing works?? Like there is some kind of crazy formula as to how they determine what your number is??!!

Katiebelle77 - did they tell you about this at orientation or did you find out somewhere else (checklist somewhere...on the website?). Just want to make sure I do it at the correct time and place but I still haven't read anything about it from SMU

Ok guys... Am I crazy? Didn't someone else say we needed Bloodborne Pathogens? I forget how I heard I needed to do it but I swear I didn't make it up. Seriously though, don't listen to me, I am figuring it out as I go too. I really hope I didn't pay an extra $20 and spend 90 minutes doing something I didn't have to do.

Im sure we will find out more at orientation and I think we have until school starts to obtain CPR?BLS etc (not sure about that either). There is so much stuff to do, or at least it feels like that with work, etc. LEt me know if you guys figure out the BBP thing. And like I said, don't rely on my info. I could definitely be wrong. Sorry if I stressed anyone out or I was misinformed about that...

I think Im just gonna be quiet now, I would feel absolutely awful if I messed anyone other than myself up. Kinda wish there was a master checklist from SMU. That would be so helpful right now.

Katie, don't stress about that!! Whether we need it or not, it's still valuable/useful information. You'd definitely have a one up on everyone with that certification so don't worry =).

From what I have noticed, the staff are very repetitive with what they need from us and they send multiple reminder emails so don't feel like you'll miss or forget something.
