MSMC ABSN Fall 2014

U.S.A. California

Published

For applicants to the Mount St Mary's AccBSN program for Fall 2014.

Who else out there applied? Starting a thread for this cohort. Post anything relevant, thanks!

I'm anxiously waiting to hear anything back from the school other than the fact that my application is in review.

I didn't get a FB message from you...are you sure it was me?

Facebook said it would go into a different message folder because we weren't friends when I wrote the message. I also friend requested you!

Clally5, why don't you just make the group public so it's easier to find for everyone? Is there really a need/purpose in making it private? In addressing some of the bickering I've seen on this thread, I think it was wrong to attack heavenleegh (sp?). I really hope everyone conducts themselves in a respectful manner and don't subscribe to all this high school mean girls crap during the year. Let's take responsibilities for our own actions, if you had questions or concerns, you could have been mature and called admissions yourselves to get the answer. This is a serious program, let's act like adults. Just my two cents.

It's not a secret group, it's only closed. Anyone can see the group and who is in it, but only members can see posts. I felt that it would be perfect for our cohort because as far as posts go why does that have to be public? Anyone can search it though.

Look for MSMC ABSN Fall 2014 Cohort!!

I personally feel that whatever has been said was said because we were all stressed out and eager to hear about the program. It truly is life changing and we all have worked so hard to get to this place. I feel like we need to let what was said go and just focus on supporting each other and not carrying any resentments into the next year. We will need each other for encouragement, affirmations, and laughter. Let's not ruin it with semantics, but show our maturity and love for each other as future nurses and move past it :inlove:

Hey everyone!

Does anyone know what the start day is? or Orientation? I think I read August 18th on somebody's post. Anyone know this for sure or have confirmation? Trying to plan a last minute trip :p

Congrats everyone who made it. Good luck next term for those of you who did not, keep the faith alive!

Our start date is August 25

Orientation is August 18 & 19

Confirmed during my interview with the ABSN head chair director

congratulations everyone and good luck can't wait to meet everyone in person :)

@lmkim1121 and @islamik, Which courses did you have outstanding... I'm actually a little worried. I'm currently applying right now and will finish anatomy and microbiology this fall and finishing religion, philosophy developmental psych, and sociology over winter and spring.

Hey uclabruingrad,

I had two of my science courses outstanding as well as a few of my non science courses. I knew it was a super long reach but I thought my previous track record would be sufficient. I would suggest you wait for fall to apply since you do have anatomy and microbiology to finish and you won't get your grades till end of December. Also, if you plan on taking classes during spring, you may not be able to finish by mid May which is the start of the program. Just my two cents but you can research further.

@lmkim1121 The admissions counselor said I should ask the teacher to submit a grade report while it was in progress. she even told me i should be fine. now i'm really really worried... I am not planning on taking classes during spring; these classes are online classes which can be paced by myself. So many humanities! where did you end up going for nursing school?

@lmkim1121 if you don't mind sharing your stats with me, what was your undergrad major, GPA, prerequisite GPA?

It's difficult to fulfill all prerequisites since each school has different ones

I pretty much had to retake all classes since I was a music major as an undergrad

How did everyone who ending up going through the program like it? Was it worth it and the cost?

Hi everyone!

I'm about to start this upcoming fall cohort and I had a couple questions I'm hoping any past students could help me with. The program is so costly so I"m trying to save as much as I can. Does anybody have any recommendations on how to handle the financial aid/loans/scholarships to pay for school? I've been looking through scholarships and haven't found many options. Any recommendations on specific loan source?

Parking for the Doheny campus is also around 400$ a year, how is the surrounding area? Is it easy to avoid paying the fee and find street parking?

Do you have any other advice before starting the program?

Thank you so much! Your help is so appreciated.
