  1. Hi, I am a student that finished the ABSN portion of the program. The director looks at everyone as a whole but good gpas, good teas test, and good experience would be advantageous. My undergrad GPA was at least 3.6, my science GPA 4.0, and my teas was in the high 90's for all subjects. I got my CNA license and right before the interview, I got hired at a hospital as a CNA. I know there were students in my class that didn't do as well in their undergrad or their science GPA but they got accepted and pass the program. My advice would be to apply everywhere and anywhere you can to get your BSN. Once you have your BSN and RN license, it doesn't make a big difference which school you graduate from. Good luck!
  2. Hello Aspiringprovider, CSULA has a ABSN-MSN program where you get direct entry into the NP masters program after the ABSN portion. Although you don't have to take your GRE, you are required to take the TEAS test. You might want to look into that. Also if you have a year to reapply, taking a CNA course can really help because you get clinical experience performing patient care. I think it's great that you have a lot of volunteer experience and a job as a scribe and health educator. However, getting the CNA license (and job if possible) is directly related to nursing. Good luck to you :)
  3. I spoke to the director and she told me that we have the option to take a break after our ABSN portion. It would have to be for an year because of class offering schedules. She said that some of the people who got jobs right away took the break. Also, you have the option to do your MSN portion part time so you can potentially go to school and work at the same time for RN experience.
  4. She emailed me before I had a chance to email her. I have been accepted to the program as well. YAY~ I'm excited to meet you guys :)
  5. If I missed a call today around 2:30, does that mean I'm in? My phone just broke and I can't receive phone calls anymore
  6. @rnnp and @xxsweetpea87xx I currently hold a part time job as a CNA at a hospital for 2 - 12 hour shift a week. Do you think it is possible to do both school and work at the same time for the ABSN portion? I know I would have no social life but what are your thoughts? Are any of your cohorts working?
  7. Did everyone hear back from the CSULA regarding the completion of their application? I turned my application in early January but still haven't heard from the school if they've processed my application. When I spoke to someone in the school a week and a half ago, she said that I'd get an email confirmation within a week. Just a little worried that my application might have been lost...
  8. Did any of you guys apply to UCLA MECN as well? IF you got into both, which would you go to and why?
  9. Hey uclabruingrad, I had two of my science courses outstanding as well as a few of my non science courses. I knew it was a super long reach but I thought my previous track record would be sufficient. I would suggest you wait for fall to apply since you do have anatomy and microbiology to finish and you won't get your grades till end of December. Also, if you plan on taking classes during spring, you may not be able to finish by mid May which is the start of the program. Just my two cents but you can research further.
  10. Hello biglittlev, I am applying this year as well and I was wondering who you spoke to about your SOP and your application. Did you go to a information session or did you schedule an appointment? Can you please let me know how I can get an overview on my application as well? Thank you :]
  11. Hey guys, So I got a letter saying that my application was rejected because I had too many prerequisites in progress. Good luck to all of you guys and I hope to see you guys next year~
  12. Hey Tatertot6, Thanks for your encouragement. I did go to an orientation and spoke to the coordinator. She said it's not optimal to have more than a couple in progress but still encouraged me to apply. If I make it to the interviews, I can probably give them a good update on my class progress. Congrats on the math test invitation! I hope I get to take the math test as well~ :]
  13. I also applied for Fall 2014. I'm worried because I have a number of prerequisites I am working on. We'll see what happens. I saw older forums and it seems the applicants got interviewed in late May and acceptance letters in June. Good luck you guys~ :]
