Hospitals in Palm dale / lancaster

I am a new grad RN and I currently live in San Diego and have family in the Palm dale area.

I did a google search and the only hospital I could find in the area is Antelope Valley Hospital. I looked the hospital up on allnurses.com and the hospital seems to be a scary place to work at, especially with the crime mentioned.

So I was wondering if there were other hospitals in the area. It would be okay if I had to drive a little while to get there. But I would not want to drive more than 1 hour. Of course I would prefer the facility to be closer but at this point I really don't care. I'm just trying to figure out what my options are because I can't find a job in San Diego.

I am really tempted to apply for a job at AVH because it looks promising to have positions for new grads but I'm also afraid for my safety (I'm female and I have never lived away from my parents).

If anyone can give me any in sight regarding the hospital, crime, and other hospitals in the area i would really appreciate it!

There are two hospitals in Lancaster area. One is Lancaster Community Hosp and Antelope Valley. I work at LCH as a new grad. It is ok, better than nothing, and the staff are very friendly which as a new nurse is very important to me. Yes, crime is high there, so I commute from Santa Clarita area. It is about a 45 min drive. It is very nice out here. My hubby and I were thinking about moving to Lancaster but crime is too high. If you need any other help send me your email address and we can keep in touch. Oh, the hospital I work at is building a new hospital in Palmdale. It is Palmdale Regional Medical Center. It is suppose to open up Feb 2009. I think LCH is having a New Grad program in October. Check out both hospitals and try to interview at both places so you can decide what is bettet suited for you I wish you the best. Take care.

I have been checking Lancaster website to see if they have new grad programs but i have never seen one. Do you know if they post online or you have to apply to any RN positions as a new grad.
