Everest College Ontario RN program

U.S.A. California

Hello all,

I know there are already a couple of posts for this school, but reading through the threads I didn't get all the information that I was looking for and considering that they are pretty old threads I made a new one because I didn't think anyone would look at those anymore. I've already completed all my prereqs at a community college, but I don't want to wait around forever to get into the community college rn program.

Anyways, I wanted to find out for those who are already in the program or have the info. What kind of studying should I do for their entrance exam? What kind of stuff comes in the tests. I also would like to know the cost or estimated cost of the school. And how do they go about choosing the students for the program? What exactly is the application process?

I've already called the school, but the lady that answered the phone wasn't able to give me much info except for that info sessions are in August and the program starts up again in January.

And if you are already in the program, I would like to know how to do you find the teachers to be?? Would you say that this is a good academic choice??

Please help me as I live really far away from this school and I am moving out there just for the program. It is a little difficult for me to just drive over to visit the school. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Ok so I personally have 8 units to transfer only. So here's how it goes: 416 per unit plus 1462 books every 9 months and a 120 random fee. Comes to a lil over 50k. Buuut they package it 9 months at a time thus receiving more fafsa. Its a bit confusing but it is a for profit school.

The f.a. part was only tough on my end because I have rotten credit and turned out my cosigner did too lol. And my father was with me as a last resort cosigner and he changed his mind. So I'm left with cash payments to everest during school. But it is my choice to continue.

As far as them not teaching what is needed or unhappy students all I can say on my part is if admitted I do plan on taking an outside nclex prep prior to testing as to ensure being on par. It is a very pricey program but time is money. Its getting down to the nitty gritty and I really do hope I get to see emt anderson, jewels dexandmon and long in school since we've all kind of shared this little journey together!

Hi again, feel like I kow you all. I would be transfering in 30 units. What I am considering doing is taking my physio and micro and the college i have been going, which gives Everest 6 months to a year to have some nclex scores posted. I have been a teacher for 10 years and understand that the success of the students goes hand and hand with my ability to teach. Spoken to a few current rn students and they have shared that if you don't have any medical background that the journey would be even more difficult due to to the level of teaching of core nursing subjects. I don't have ANY medical background so those statements concern me. Funny have been waiting anxiously to get in and now that I am one step away I am reconsidering. I do believe that my hesitation is a good thing (for me and my family). Nursing is what I am suppose to be doing just need to make sure that I am knocking on the correct door. Good luck everyone. Who know's perhaps I will go to bed tonight and wake up feeling differently:)

I have 5 years of medical experience so I'm not sure how that will help. I also have all my pre-reqs and general educcation transfering in except for makbye 4 classes.

Oh my, I knew there were news when I logged on to 3 new pages of unread posts! Hehe, congrats to you guys who have received phone calls! I'm sure that makes the rest of us much more anxious to wait by our phones even more now, lol. jmira, so they gave you the option to pay tuition through monthly cash payments? I have not so great credit either but have two co-signers ready for if I do get to go through financial aid. I want this so bad now knowing that you guys are continuing on. Best of luck to all of us, I'll be staying close with this thread daily now to see if there are any more updates.

Specializes in none yet.
Yes I do. I'm quite confused. Cuz we all had interviews a while ago. Mine was almost 7 weeks ago. And I know there's at least one other person preselected and who did the f.a. part they were at the school yesterday. But good luck mizzhernandez no worries the essay is rather short and its not hard. You'll do great

:uhoh3: Thats exactly what I told my husband after I was given an interview date. If only there were more people in my position, I would feel a bit relieved. You guys are totally right on this, its confusing. So what I question is if Im the only one interviewing next week?. I can recall calling them since the third week of october, I emailed them, i left voicemails, and the few times that I actually spoke with someone I was told that they did not have a date for me quite yet, but that they would be interviewing all the way up untill Christmas. Im trying not get bumbed out about it, but I think I would feel a bit better if the date would have been given to me because THEY called instead of how it really happened. "I" called and they gave me the date, :( So I wonder if I would have EVER been called. :confused:I have had such high hopes for this opportunity because this is something that ive been wanting to do since the age of 14. Well, for whatever its worth! Im not gona give up regardless of what my chances trully are. Im going to keep practicing for my essay, and my interview questions. Thank you so muchyou guys for your response:yeah:

Long, yes they offer no interest cash payments directly to the school buuuut only for 12 months max. Here's how it goes u pay for 9 months of classes at a time aka 3 quarters. Say total cost is 20 grand for the 9 months(because its the most units of the 3 packages we will do) and grants cover 6 grand and federal loans cover 9 there would be 5 grand left that u either need a private loan for or u could pay cash for. I have bad credit so got declined for both the private and genesis loans. I had a few grand that wasn't covered so u have the option of paying the rest of in 12 month payments to the school interest free. Hope this helps!

thanks jmira for all the tips!! im glad for you...im still waiting for my call:/

Thanks jewels I'm really rooting for you!

Thanks for the detailed explanation, Jmira :-)
