Educational requirements not met

U.S.A. California

I am trying to get my CA RN license by endorsement. I have a MO license and a FL license. The CA BON has said that they can't accept my pediatric nursing course because it can't be the same as my OB course. They were combined at my school. They are saying they have to be two separate classes. A girl I went to school with who took the same exact classes as I did just got her CA license back in June. The board is telling me that every case is different and they can't explain why she got hers with no problems, and they won't accept mine. Any advice??

That's CA for you! They are a pain in the ass when it comes to endorsement. Ask them to give you "within reason" options to remedy the deficiency. They have authority to regulate CA nursing school but DO NOT have the authority to regulate out of state nursing schools. Don't be surprised if they refer you to BVNPT or ask you to attend a CA approved nursing program. They are notorious for that. No nursing school will take you since you already hold a RN license from another state. Someone needs to sue the pants out of the BRN for their rediculous requests.

It is a way of decreasing competition for the new grads that graduated from Cali. schools. Make you jump through so many hoops that you go elsewhere.

They lead you on a wild goose chase to nowhere. All they want is your money and then then will tell you no.
