CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2010 Applicants

U.S.A. California

Hello,

The application for CSULB EL-MSN Fall 2010 is due Friday April 2nd! Get your stuff in! Has anybody that has submitted already, gotten a confirmation back or heard anything. I submitted the first week in March and nothing for me yet. I hear there will be an interview for the first time this year. Goodluck everyone!! I got impatient waiting for someone to start a thread for us applicants...so I just did it :)

I just received an email saying that I am an alternate and that my status would be sent to me mid-May. It also gave me the date for orientation. I guess they want alternates to attend. I'm also an alternate for CSUF...so more waiting...yay. Congrats to those that got in though!

Just thought I'd share what I found out when I called today.

If you didn't get an email notification, it is likely you didn't make the acceptance/alternate cut. Rejection letters went out today. The scoring threshold for acceptance was 9.13!! That's significantly higher than last year's score. The threshold for alternates was ~8.9.

I didn't make the cut for LB :crying2:, but that's okay because I already got into other schools :). Congrats to everyone who made it in because you must be STELLAR candidates! :yeah::yeah::yeah:

I'm in this year too! Which is exciting and a little surreal for me since I didn't even make the alternate list last year...

So, I'm considering moving from West Covina to Long Beach. I know it's not that far but I know that the 605 can get realllllly bad.

Any one has any advice on which areas I should look at? I am considering places within 5-10 miles. The closer the better since I can use their bus system if I live close enough.

Thanks!

West Covina is a little far, a move might be a good idea. I need to move back to orange county too! I live in San Diego and Temecula right now. I know the clinical sites are all over orange county so I was a little hesitant at first to move right next to the school because then I'll be driving far away every weekend anyways. But the bus system would make it so I we won't have to drive to campus all the time, which would be really nice. I did learn something from undergrad, haha.

I am not sure where to live at all. Actually I'm more interested in finding roomates to live with though. Since I'm moving from further away anyways, anyone I live with will be totally random.

Anybody have any updates besides the health requirements email they sent out? I can now log-on to mycsulb and it says admitted to the university. Can anybody see their financial aid awards yet online? I called financial aid and they said it should be up by Friday and if it isn't to call them back. Its all happening so fast, crazy.

Nothing else besides what you already said. Glad to know that financial aid info will be up (hopefully) tomorrow. Need to start figuring out how I'm gonna pay for this. Congrats to all who have gotten in!

Hi everyone!

I am new to this site and going to be starting CSULB EL-MSN this fall :)

Does anyone know what our schedule is going to be like? I saw the course list online, but I am curious if we have access to any other info yet...like how many days/hours a week we have class. I am going to be commuting from Irvine, and so I am wondering if I am going to have to make that drive 5 days a week!

Thanks :)

Does anyone have news on whether or not they've come out with the financial aid award information for the program yet?

...& I'd just like to say a great big, "Hello." I'm new to the message boards as well. And if you haven't done so, make sure you all turn in your acceptance contracts before the deadline which, if I remember correctly, is on the 14th.

@Stephcsulb: From the info session, they said that we'd be at the school/hospital between 5-6 days a week: 2-3 days of lecture, 3 days of clinicals. I'm not too sure though. Hopefully someone else out there can give us some insight.

Nothing on my account yet. I called them yesterday and they said they're still working on getting through everything and making decisions, but no estimate on when they might have it all done. They just told me to keep checking back.

Hi, welcome you guys :)

They said the same thing to me about financial aid, they are not done processing our admissions information (university/department acceptance) so they haven't started processing financial aid awards yet, but you can call to make sure you are complete because they can let you know that. I sure wish they would do it soon.

I'm not sure about the schedule either, I just can't wait to find out info at orientation. Actually I just realized its probably a combined orientation with bsn/el-msn students. I found their forum this year and theirs is also on June 11th. Wow there will probably be 150 people there.

Hi,

From the last couple info sessions I went to (I went to about 2-3), each semester is about 16-18 weeks long (I forget which one). In each semester, we're going to take several "blocks" of classes that range from 4-6 weeks long. So for example, we'll take pharm and patho in the same block of weeks at the beginning of the semester for 4 weeks. After that block is done, we move onto the next block of classes lasting about 6 weeks, then repeat.

So it's kinda like having summer classes back-to-back with no breaks. I don't think we start the clinicals RIGHT away but it won't be long after before we get going on those.

Average week seems to be 2-3 days of lecture and 2 days of clinicals (which if I remember right, were 8-12hr long).

Hope that helps!

Just to update, I've spoken to 2 diff people at FinAid and award letters/info won't be released until June/July.
