CSU San Marcos ABSN Fall 2014

Fall 2014 CSUSM ABSN hopefuls- this is the forum to share, bounce ideas off, ask questions with your fellow applicants! I am finishing my last two prerequisites during this Spring 2014 semester but have my rolling application and Teas already submitted. Since many applicants have recently received their acceptance letters for the Summer 2014 cohort, I figured now would be a good time to open up the next forum for Fall. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Hi,

I have my application submitted and TEAS taken. Just finishing up my Spring semester at Palomar and once they receive my updated grades, I should be good to go. Based on my rough calculation, I think I will have around 31 points which should be good enough to get me in.

Word of advice based on my experience with the staff at CSUSM Extended Learning, stay on top of your process. I had to constantly call to follow up on my records and there were errors on my evaluations that I had to get them to correct. Trevor, my new advisor, seems to be more on top of things.

@kham, only another week or so to stress out about finals!... but then back to stressing on waiting for acceptances : ( )

@achurley, Lol I hear you. Do you know about the locations for clinicals for the Temecula branch? I live in San Marcos literally about 5 miles from the CSUSM campus so I'm a little torn on whether to go with the fall cohort or the spring. Obviously I want to finish the program ASAP but I also don't want to have to drive further than Temecula.

I live in San Marcos too, so cross our fingers we both get in and we would be perfect to do carpool together! I'm having that same internal dilemma about going ASAP if I get accepted or waiting until Spring. However, from what I hear Temecula cohort clinicals are at either Temecula Valley Hospital (27.2 mi), Hemet (55.4 mi) or Palomar Pomorado. For the San Marcos cohort at Scripps Chula Vista (43.8 mi), Scripps La Jolla (31.8mi) or Sharp...So, not a huge difference overall...it seems. And going over to Temecula is against traffic where going to SD is right into it.

Hi everyone. I sent in my transcripts in Mid-March and my TEAS score end of March. I still have not received my academic evaluation. I e-mailed them about 2 weeks ago, and they said to look for it in the mail in a couple weeks... Why is mine taking so much longer than everyone else (I've looked around the forum, and the average is 5-6 weeks)? Anyway, good luck, everyone!

Hi Erika,

When I first submitted my application, it took almost 7 weeks to get a response and that was with me calling them constantly.

Hopefully they sent it out to you prior to the recent fires since that will cause delays.

I would keep hounding them until they tell you that it's been sent out for sure.

Good luck!

Hi kham,

Thanks for the info! I had not heard of the fires, and just looked it up. How terrible!

@ErikaJoy The only thing that I can think of is that maybe it's delayed since you sent your transcripts and Teas in separately. (?) B/c mine took 6 weeks but I sent those two things in together at the same time.

Hi achurley,

You might be right about that. Anyway, I called the admissions office last week, and they said to look for my academic evaluation in the mail. So, I should be getting it soon, maybe even today!

Dropped off my final updated transcript today to CSUSM. Does anyone know when the Fall program officially starts? I know August but is it early, mid or late August?

@kham, I did the same thing today too, funny. I'm not sure when the Fall program would officially start but if it follows the regular CSUSM 2014-2015 Academic Calender, the first day of class would be Aug. 25th according to this link > http://www.csusm.edu/academic_programs/files/AcademicCalendars/2014-2015%20AcademicCalendar.pdf . I just don't know if extended learning classes disregard this schedule. Did anyone mention or did you ask if receiving these transcripts today would allow for them to be processed with enough time to be considered for Fall or how long to be assigned "points" from now?

@achurley, I didn't really ask anyone there about points and all that. Even if I did, I know they would just give me the basic 4-6 week response. I'm not really impressed with the people that work there.

I'm pretty sure that it's enough time for the Fall cohort. It's just a matter of getting points but I assume that points be included in my next evaluation sheet but then again I wouldn't be surprised if I have to end up calling to get it.
