Concordia University Irvine ABSN Summer 2012

U.S.A. California

Hello everyone

Now that the due date is less than a week, I wanted to start a fresh thread for those who are applying for summer 2012.

Let me introduce myself first..

As you can tell from my user name I am a husband and a daddy (two year old daughter and soon to be born baby boy). I did my undergrad at USC (biology) but worked in the restaurant business for 5 years. I always wanted to work in health related field so that's why I am applying to Concordia!

For application, I am done except for the statement of intent, hopefully I will be done by this weekend!

I would like to wish nothing but the best for everyone!!

Let's get this thread rolling~

Thanks doulajess. Good luck.

Minipeach,I think all the invites were sent out via email. That is what it seems like. The official word from Concordia has always been mid-March for invites. Seeing as how it is only the 5th, I wouldn't give up hope yet!Butters and CubanRob,I get the feeling I will be the easiest to spot in the group. Just look for the "doulajess" who seems obsessed with birth and boobs (I am a childbirth educator and lactation counselor... nothing freaky, I promise ; ) I am coming from Fullerton but paranoid about sleeping in/hitting traffic... maybe I will just camp out on campus to be safe : ) Looking forward to meeting you in 2 weeks!

I will look for you too!

CubanRob and Doulajess, how are you guys preparing for the interview?

Butters-I have been looking at several of the threads on here to see what kind of questions I need to prep for. Seems like it might be best to be prepared foe the basics... why do you want to be a nurse, what has prepared you for this field, why Concordia ABSN... a lot of the same stuff that was covered in the essay questions. I have a feeling I will only hurt myself if I try to memorize answers or seem too reheorificed. I plan on just reviewing some talking points, things I want to make sure they understand about my direction, interests, goals, etc. so that they can see that I am a good fit. More than anything, I just wanna be myself. So, I am trying to really condition myself to relax and trust that things are going to work out the way they should and not get too overly-concerned about the interview. How about you?

I looked at last year and I cannot find any information. So I am just going to prepare myself for the basic questions. I don't think there is much memorization for us to do.

And definitely try to relax as much as possible and not stress out!

P.S. I heard the instructors there are super nice and friendly. :D

I only found a few threads with info on interviews. I would hope they stick to questions similar to those they asked on the statement of intent. I will just remind myself of what I wrote in my essay and a couple others points. My thing is to try and stay calm ,collected and confident. I just hope to not ramble on.

Did anyone receive an email after confirming their interview date? I replied to the invitation, but never received a follow up saying "you are are now confirmed for such and such interview date"

Rob, I responded but never heard anything else. I too have a tendency to ramble, and I worry about that. Maybe we will be in the same interview group and we can kick each other should we start to ramble on? ;)

Hi,

I didn't get anything either. Make sure you PRINT out your invitation, that's your confirmation! :D

Hi everyone,

I was reading this thread and finally, yes, finally haha, decided to comment! I too applied for the summer 2012 ABSN program at Concordia and will attend the interview event this March 19th in the morning! Can't wait to meet some of you, Butters111 and cubanrob!

Regards to your question cubanrob, I too replied to the interview invitation and did not receive a confirmation back. If I read the e-mail correctly, once you reply to it, then your attendance will be automatically confirmed, I guess meaning that the nursing school will add your name onto its list of interview attendees.

Does anyone know that the interview will be conducted in a individual and/or group format? :lol2:

It is a group interview!

I am not from California so I sent a return email making sure that the interviews needed to be in person. They got back to me very quickly so I'm assuming that means that a return email automatically confirms your spot!
