change of name applying CA RN license

U.S.A. California

Published

hi guys! my fiance petitioned me and i just got here in the U.S. this sept. i dont hold the "license card" yet cus i havent sent the letter of SSN to the cali BON due to the fact that soon enough my name will be changed into a "married name"

my question is, can i send the letter that will contain my SSN (i already have SSN) together with the application of change of name and address so that when cali BON send me the "license card" it will already be my married name on it.

in this case, do you know how long it is til i receive it?

CA BRN will not accept anything for a name change unless it is accompanied by a legal document. In this case, it needs to be a copy of the marriage license.

Until you are legally married, there is nothing that you can do to submit anything to them. You need to allow a couple of weeks from when the legal documents are submitted with them along with the application for the name change.
