California Nursing License HELP!

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi! I submitted my application for an RN license endorsement to the State of California in the middle of October; I'm waiting to start a job out there in 3 weeks. I need help because I'm still without a California nursing license! I'm really beginning to panic.

Here's what I've already done.

1. I call the Board 2-3 times per week, which is easily a two-three hour process considering the lousy switchboard. They tell me every time that they are forwarding my application on to a supervisor. This morning, this woman said, "well, we will have been processing your application for three months on Feburary 6th, so then we'll really have to do something." I don't even know what to say to that.

2. I've written and called the Governor's office. They say they've opened a case file. They told me I should be hearing back from the Board of nursing directly. Yeah, sure I will.

I think my next option is to get on a plane and fly to Sacramento. But I'm wondering if anyone has any other ideas. PLEASE HELP! I'm open to anything.

i am in the same situation. I have already lost a couple of job offers because of the wait. I can't even get through to anyone. I email and call and nothing. I sent everything in early November. Hopefully someone has good suggestions..

I know you cant pick up a temp license at the BON anymore so I am not sure if you fly out there if you would be able to speak to a live person. They have implemented EZ breze which is suppose to speed up things but I think its not working. If you can ,call and ask to speak to an evaluator. If something is missing from your file, maybe they can let you know.

I just tried to speak to the evaluator assigned and they told me that the evaluators are are not answering any calls. Now, the latest update is that it will be escalated once your file has been in the system for 90 days or more... they count it when they first put it in their system and cash your check, not when you sent it in. My file was sitting around for more than two weeks before anyone entered it into the system so while I have been waiting for more than 11 weeks, in their system, it is only 8-9! Meantime, new resident in California with no job for almost three months... Great!! I should have moved to Arizona... Of course, if you are missing something, then they send you something in the mail (snail mail) so here you go again with the wait!!

Did you apply for the permit along with the permanent license? I'm also applying for licensure by endorsement. I am hoping I can at least get the permit before 90 days! Does anyone have any feedback for how long it takes to get the permit/temporary license?

Specializes in ICU.

Did you apply for a temporary also? I have also applied through the endorsement route mid Jan. I sent in the extra for a temp license, but I have no idea how long that will take. The website said 4-6 weeks, but I am not counting on that. Good Luck!! I hope it comes through soon.

Have any of y'all received your CA license yet? I flew out to Sacramento and turned my application in along with the livescan on June 11. I also had the Alabama board of nursing send my verification and my college send official transcripts at the end of May prior to flying out. The first time I called they said my "check" cleared on June 16 and that was when I was put into to the system. I explained that I payed cash on June 11 LOL. They didn't have a response for that. Regardless I have a job to start August 6. I have recently written a letter to the governor with no response (not surprised). This is by far ridiculous. So much for the "BreEze" system! By the way I was told not to waste the time and money applying for the temp license, that I would receive my permanent license at the same time.

I actually emailed and called the governor's office (copied the nursing board) and got a response the next day telling me that my license would be processed immediately. A week later I had it in my hand. Had I not contacted the governor's office, I would probably still be waiting.... Good luck. I did spend the money for the temp license, which turned out to be a total waste...

Got mine on the 5th, finally! I did get call from the governor's office the day after my last post and said they would get something done, 5 days later I get my license. I think contacting the governor's office is the way to go.

Who exactly did you contact at the Governor's office and did you find an email contact for the nursing board? I'm trying to expedite my NP license and I'm just a little desperate. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi. I'll ask you the same question I asked jacksonleo: Who and how did you contact at the Governor's office and the BRN? Please help.

I just went to the governor's website and used the contact link (I think.. it has been a while)
