Applying to everything

U.S.A. California

Hey all,

So I've been applying to the crazy job market in southern cali for about 3 weeks now. I have applied to the field I have experience in (but only at one hospitals). At the other hospitals I applied to other fields like NICU/L&D, ICU; mainly because I want to experience something else. Although it has only been 3 weeks I'm going crazy not working. There are about 5 major hospitals with multiple affiliate hospitals in the area, but only one job search website per the 5 major hospitals. My thing is should I still apply for numerous positions within the hospitals or does that look bad? I don't want to appear desperate, but in about another week I will be lol.

Words of encouragement and advice is always appreciated

Specializes in L&D, infusion, urology.

I've never heard of it counting against you to apply to multiple positions within a given hospital system. I'm in northern CA, and I've applied to multiple positions within the major systems here, and I've gotten calls from all of them over the months I've been looking. I am a new grad (May 2014), and I am finally about to start a clinic job later this month through one of those systems. Still no luck with a hospital position, but for where I am in my life at the moment, this position is a good fit.

You'll have to be patient- many jobs I've been called for are ones I applied to months prior, and even this one I'm starting this month is starting 2 months after my first interview.

Thanks. Congrats to you and good luck. Almost wish I was new grad again lol. I was lucky enough to get 3 interviews and offers from 2 out of 3

Specializes in Primary Care; Child Advocacy; Child Abuse; ED.

I am moving to the Fresno area...I have not seen clinic openings. Where should I look for one? I have almost a year experience in the hospital and I am not to picky about where I am going to work.
