Any Excelsior Graduates Endorse Into CA Successfully

U.S.A. California

I'm going to make this short. My fiance is in the military and is stationed in San Diego. I'm a LPN going to Excelsior for my RN. I need to find people who successfully endorsed their out of state RN license to CA as an Excelsior graduate. Thanks Angie.

Sorry I deleted my post, you probably already know the info I found. I only know excelsior grads from when they accepted way back when. I hope you get the info you are looking for

this is on the school's website:

https://www.excelsior.edu/Excelsior_College/About/News_and_Announcements/Notice_For_California_Nursing_Students

elsewhere on the site it says that the California board will consider on a case-by-case basis. I'm not certain of your chances.

I asked for clarification on the case by case basis.

Sorry, I contacted the CA BRN asking for clarification on what is meant by case by case basis, and the answer I got was that out of state applicants will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

That's why i deleted the post. I realized what info you were looking for after I had already written it. The only Excelsior grads I know were before California shut them down minus the case-by-case basis. I'm sorry I don't have more information. Hopefully someone will be able to respond.

The best thing to do is to contact the BRN. Sometimes you have to keep calling them until they fully answer your question. Good Luck

I knew a nurse who went through Excelsior for her RN and was actually let go because without clinical experience, she failed to complete orientation. We all knew she would have a difficult time when she had never been on a floor before, but now I can see how the case-by-case basis got to be in place. Since you have experience as a LPN, I think chances in your case would be pretty good. Visit the state's nursing website or call the board directly (it might take a few times) and ask. They should be able to tell you more details.

I already asked the BRN about having LVN/LPN experience, and that didn't satisfy the BRN. What sucks is that our clinical rotation has over 900 hours of clinical rotations as a LVN student, plus we have paid experience as a LVN so I don't know what the problem really is. Also know that the BRN is very unwilling to provide you with more details. You ask them open ended questions and they give you close ended answers. In reality the BRN is no help.

I too have looked extensively into this issue and would love to know if anyone out there has successfully endorsed into California as an Excelsior graduate. I will be enrolling in Excelsior's program very shortly. I live in so.cal but moving from NY to Florida w/in the next couple years and would hate to waste precious school time during my travels. Hoping i can obtain a License through Excelsior and work as an RN in whatever state im in that accepts Excelsior grads, as oppose to wrkn as an LVN/LPN and making LVN/LPN wage. But unfortunately I can almost be certain California wont budge on its decision about Excelsior. In Ca.BON website it CLEARLY states one of the criteria in order to endorse into the state of California, "including supervised clinical practice concurrent with theory"!

scroll down to thee section that says "Decesions regarding Excelsior"

http://www.rn.ca.gov/whatsnew.shtml :crying2:

I don't get why the theory and clinical must be concurrent. There are out of the coutry applicants who are sometimes granted permission to take a refresher course with clinicals because they are lacking in hours and yet they can be licensed in CA. Why is Excelsior completely shut out?
