Which college would be allow for the quickest entry to NS?

Hi all,

I am going to be moving to AZ soon, somewhere in the general area of Phoenix (originally thought Wickenburg but I am now finding that that is flexible :) )

I am not familiar with wait lists of the different NS programs in AZ so my question is, if money is no issue and private schools would be an option, which schools would allow the quickest entry into the Nursing program? Obviously I would prefer a community college but I don't want to wait 1-2 years to get in and that is the feeling I'm getting in terms of how long the wait is.

Are there any good private school options? Or any CCs that are competitive (use your GPA, interviews, etc)?

As I understand Maricopa Skills Center is through the CC program and can given you a quicker outcome as well as Chamberlain College (You will see both mentioned here OFTEN!) :) Another option is looking to the also mentioned Banner Nurse Fellows Program. The later is Banner Health pays for your NS and textbooks then puts you in an accelerated program for Nursing through selected community colleges.

Maricopa Skill center, along with the Southwest skill and Gateway LPN program will get you just that...a Practical Nurse license(assuming you pass the boards). Chamberlain would be the quickest way to get your BSN, but it's a tough program. You have to be very dedicated and ready to take this on. As far as private schools that offer an ADN (associate's degree in nursing) that would be Apollo, IIA(now Brookline) and Everest college. I did see that ITT Tech just got a provisional approval, as well as Fortis college. I believe Fortis will only offer the LPN at this point. Brookline is on hold pending some changes, but previously that was the shortest program I know of. I believe it was 18 months for the ADN program. It really all depends on what you are wanting right now, and how much time/money you want to put into it. If I had the time and money I'd go right to Everest college or Chamberlain. Like I have stated so many times on this forum, each individual is going to have a different goal and what works for some may not work for others. Whichever school you choose, know it takes alot of time management, dedication and focus. Good Luck!

You might also want to look at Central Arizona College and Eastern Arizona College. They don't have waiting lists.

I would like to pipe in about CAC- there isn't a waiting list, many if not all of the applicants have very high GPAs as well as all their co-reqs and pre-reqs complete... so it's very competitive. You'd need ALL of the pre-reqs/ co-reqs as well as your CNA license to be accepted into CAC's program
