Hi Everyone,

My husband and I would like to relocate to AZ from PA (of course the weather!) But I am finding it very difficult to choose the right area to live/hospital to work in. I think living around the suburbs of Phoenix would be ideal. Any ideas of a great town/hospital hiring?? Thank You.

Read the AZ forum and you will see opinions given before. It is not easy to find a nursing position in Phoenix. First land whatever job you can, and then move. Do not move here without a job unless you have enough cash to last at least 6 months.

Thank you for the reply. I have checked a lot of different hospital websites, it seems they are all hiring for RN's??

What you don't see is how many other applicants are applying for the jobs! It used to be that you would get hired on the interview. Now, you are lucky to get an interview. I typically ask how many other applicants are you interviewing. Usually the answer is in between 8 and 20!

It took me 4 months last spring to find a staff position. Previous to that I was on a travel assignment.

I hope this will help you out. My fiancee moved from MI to Scottsdale, AZ in Aug. of 2009 to goto school. I have been there to visit twice and will be going back march 4th. I was going to apply to Nur. school there but, got accepted to a school here in michigan before the school tere sent out their acceptance letters. Az, is a place that i would tell anyone to go visit before up in moving. East coast way of living is wonderful and totally different from West coast.I think you should go visit for a couple of wks on and off throughout this year if at all possible so you can find out for self. The cost of living is very costly. Job wise lol alot of people like to retire there so, if you cannot find employement right off then look into home health. I do not finish Nur school until 2011 May and YES i have considered Az.
