Possibly Moving to Arizona, Help?

I live in Michigan.

So I'm a junior in highschool, who will be in College classes to get my CNA certificate. I will get it by June. Around Julyish of my Senior year, I would like to move to Arizona. (I have some money saved up and have a job to get more, and I'm actually moving with a friend).

Does anyone know if the Michigan CNA certificate is able to be transferred to Arizona?

(If so) I was thinking about working as a CNA for a while, gaining residency, then going to college. (No I would not be gaining residency to go to school then just move away, I am staying in AZ). Or I was thinking about going back to school right away and becoming either an LPN or RN (while working as a CNA). Any suggestions on what I should do?

(If it does not transfer): Then I'll be re-taking/re-doing the CNA program/test. From there should I stay in school to become an LPN or RN?

I plan on working my way up to BSN RN, hopefully as cheaply as possible since I don't know how much my financial aide would cover it.

(Also, non-nursing related question...) Do you have any advice for moving to AZ? (:

I tried searching if you can transfer it from MI to AZ but was unable to find anything specific. I would contact the Arizona State Board of Nursing and see if you are able to transfer it.

As for the LPN or RN decision, I would say that is up to you and what you want to do and how long you want to be in school! :)

Advice for moving to Arizona.. I'm sure you've been told this plenty of times but it is HOT here.. It's not humid normally except in monsoon season which is June-August, but it gets up to 120 degrees.. It's gross. It was close to 90 here last week.. in February. I've lived in Seattle and here and the heat is hard to get used to!

First of all it does take time to get used to the heat. I am from Colorado and I love it here, but it is because I really don't like the snow and cold to much. There are a lot of nursing programs and schools you can get into some have a long waiting list and require a high GPA and entrance test. I would get on the internet and research the schools and what they have to offer for your to decide better. I would also encourage you when taking your pre-reqs to make sure you study and get good grades because most programs are very competitive here in Arizona. Having your CNA license is a good start to becoming a nurse. Good luck with your move.

Usually transferring a CNA license from one state to another can be as simple as applying for reciprocity.
