:yeah::crying2: hello out there, I'm currently an LVN in california working in an acute care hospital, med-surg wing on nights I've been employed full-time for the past 9yrs, I started work there before I even graduated. I attended a college based nursing program 4semsters for 1500 clinical hours. I also have an AS degree all nursing pre-requisites. I passed my Nclex first time, computer shut off at 85, I'm IV therapy and phlebotomy certified. Here in California I can hang primary fluids and blood and blood products. Do the LPNs do the same thing in Arizona. We will be moving in 4wks so I'd really like to know where I stand. Thanks a bunch guys.:loveya:

contact arizona state board and you may get a copy of the code of practice, lpn,s do everything under an rn's licence, but dont see many being employed in az.

Specializes in LPN.

Most LPN's here work in LTC or other non-hospital settings. I'm IV certified, but have never actually used any IV skills since clinicals because I don't have the opportunity. From what I understand, we can perform basic IV management, but cannot do IV pushes or hang blood. It does seem that few hospitals hire LPN's, but you may fare better in that area since you have years of hospital experience.

When I was in school, I used to have a 5-page printout on the LPN scope of practice. I can't find it on the AZ BON website. Cariad, I'm not sure what you mean by "working under an RN's license". Licenses are quite separate. Although LPN's legally work under the "supervision" of an RN, this often means RN's are in management positions, and in some environments that can be a rather distant relationship.
