Mesa CC Spring 2016 Afternoon

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello all,

Just wanted to start a page for those of us that will be attending/starting Mesa Community College 2016 Block 1 nursing.

I thought we could share questions, thoughts and helpful hints to make the process somewhat less confusing.

This is primarily for those of us attending Mesa CC Afternoon program 2016. I know all the schools have different criteria, and events and what not so this is not to keep others from sharing all are welcomed but for my own insanity I am trying to get a really good GRASP on what is pertaining to my school and time frame. So if you veterans have guidance, please feel free to share.

Also, if you have a specific topic, in your process make sure and add and "Title" so we can easily reference "Your" discussion.

We may as well start paying attention to detail, because it is going to become a way of life from here on out.

And remember, "every new day is a bonus."

Are these the only 2 we are required for block 1?

The two volumes and the one other yes. That's all I have. That's all that was on the sheet for the books.

Cool.

I am pretty jacked about getting started.

More nerve wrecking for me

aye you'll be fine. Nervous anticipation. You made it this far.

Yep only 2 required!

I have a handful of NCLEX books also for prep on questions. The Hogan one I have for the fundamentals alone. It helps already to be looking over that one.

Have you done the reading so far for the first 2 weeks? Very general but helpful.

Also, what do you think of the ATI program we are required to purchase? I will wait till orientation, but $700 seems like a lot at one time when we could essentially purchase separate in each block specifically. The app I'm excited about, it's helpful to have so many resources in one easy location.

Have u purchased scrubs yet?

Yeah I got my scrubs a while back.

Not sure about the ATI thing? "but $700 seems like a lot at one time when we could essentially purchase separate in each block specifically." I need clarification on this...

What is the "APP?" This stuff has me pondering a iPad for on the go reading and assignments.

Its a program we will be using during the program to watch skills, do assignments, and Im hearing we need to be logged in for a specific amount of time each week. Im not for sure how long though. It was in the 2nd welcome packet they sent out. But I have been told to wait till orientation to purchase it.

On another note, I have been doing some prep work and along with trying to enjoy the quiet before the storm aka "semester". I have found a recommended APP and its called Picmonics. Check it out.

If you decide to subscribe and you would like a discount code for the subscription portion let me know and Ill message you the code. Its like 20% off. Im a visual learner so its already made a lot of the material easier to understand.

Hope I clarified enough. :)

I guess I should have read your post one more time. The "APP", you are referring to.. rather I was referring to is the skyscape app. It has most all books and resources all in one app, such as drug guide, nursing diagnosis, etc. Easy access, etc. Sorry..

You guys are waiting to buy the 700$ thing?? They told me to buy it and I already did. I hope they don't say we don't need it now. The new app pincomics? Sounds really interesting. I just looked on the App Store and I only see one that's free? But you said it costs?
