Mayo New Grad program

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

I applied for the Mayo clinic new grad program the first day the position was available (they had the position online from the 14-16 of this month). Does anyone knows when they start calling for interviews and more importantly what is their criteria for selecting the applicants? I know they probably look at the GPA but I wonder if BSN have more priority than ASN degrees. Any information will be appreciated.

I had an interview with Mayo Clinic last month. I'm waiting to hear if I got it or not. Anyone heard anything?

Hi Katsie RN,

I found out that you attended 2011 NAU accelerated nursing program. That is the one I am in too, and I am going to graduate this May. I got a call from Mayo Clinic Phoenix for interview for Medical-surgical Unit. If there is any chance, could u please give me some advice about the interview.

Thank you so much for your time.

Sincerely,

Pauline

Hi Pauline and KatsieRN,

I know these were old posts but I just came across them while looking for more info on the Mayo new grad program. It looks amazing! I am just starting the accelerated program at NAU in May and was wondering if you got in and what kind of background you had? Did you preceptor there? And how much choice did you get in your facility for your preceptorship in the aBSN? I was kind of wondering if accelerated programs were looked down on at all by employers but it seems like you two both have had good luck in the job search! I don't have enough posts to PM yet unfortumately so hopefully you will see my post.

Thanks!

I am a new grad RN. I've had several interviews since getting my license at the end of Jan. I was in an accelerate BSN program and not once has possible-future-employers mentioned anything positive or negative about the fact I've been in the accelerated program. In actuality they don't know this until I mention it. So unless you bring it up, don't worry about it.

About Mayo, I'm hoping that they'll be accepting external applicants. When I tried for the last group, I was still in school and I heard that the vast majority of those who were actually accepted currently worked as CNA's there.

Fingers crossed and good luck everyone!

Thanks, that's good to know. Wouldn't employers look at your grades though and see how long you were in school? I know grades didn't used to be a big deal but I've heard they are becoming more important, especially with competitive programs like mayo

I would honestly say yes I think that if they didn't have any more internal applicants to choose from, programs like Mayo, who require unofficial transcripts would consider grades a determining factor. Again, I don't think they will really be paying attention to length of school.

Also, I'm currently being considered for a new graduate program at another Hosp and my transcripts have not been a considering factor.

I would love to talk to you!!!

Hello! I am applying right now for the next RN residency program for Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. My interview is coming up. Can you please share some of your wisdom with me? :)

1. How was the interview?

2. What type of questions were asked?

3. Any tests or exams taken? haha!

4. Did they show you the different positions available?

Thank you!!!
