Mayo New Grad program
- How many December grads will be taking NCLEX soon?
Thank you!!! I can honestly say that I wasted more time studying specific details then I should have... U will leave NCLEX feeling like an idiot for the most part. It was more helpful to just do the practice questions... Not retain specific details... You all will do fine, NS really has prepared u...- How many December grads will be taking NCLEX soon?
Graduated 12/16/12 and took and passed the NCLEX 1/28/13 (:- What do you eat before work?
No matter what you actually eat for breakfast (which sounded fine by the way), it's also about sustainability and making sure to have snacks ready for when you do feel that way. Peanut butter with crackers, nuts, cheese sticks, apples...- Paranoid about references
So I had an interview with HH this week. Although it was sketchy, it was legit... Just .... Tiny? Anyways, I only have one job that was medically related so I asked if she wanted me to fill out this last sheet which was basically a questionnaire that looked like it would be sent to the employers... She told me to just put an instructor's name from my school, that he had to have that in my file, but she wasn't going to send it because she can't... By law, they can only call previous employer to verify your length of employment, nothing else. No recommendations.- Mandatory flu shots????
My school required them in Oct '12, and that was because the facilities we would be doing clinicals in required them. We did have the option to reject the shot, but would be required to wear a surgical mask while being at the clinical site (+12hrs!!) although I don't think this is fair for those with allergies or religious reasons, it is being done to protect our patients and a population as a whole..- Waiting for an employer response
Honestly, it's so hard waiting for that email, call or any type of communication. ESPECIALLY if its one of those jobs that you really, really want. I got advice from a friend today who used to be a hiring manager (non-nursing) and she said "if it was between two applicants and one of them had taken the time to give an extra 'thanks', either by email or phone, I would usually end up with them"...- Mayo New Grad program
I am a new grad RN. I've had several interviews since getting my license at the end of Jan. I was in an accelerate BSN program and not once has possible-future-employers mentioned anything positive or negative about the fact I've been in the accelerated program. In actuality they don't know this until I mention it. So unless you bring it up, don't worry about it. About Mayo, I'm hoping that they'll be accepting external applicants. When I tried for the last group, I was still in school and I heard that the vast majority of those who were actually accepted currently worked as CNA's there. Fingers crossed and good luck everyone! - How many December grads will be taking NCLEX soon?
