jaminm do you mind sharing your choices options? I just noticed they updated the choice options/capacities for Fall 2013.

@jaminm my choices are 1-MCC traditional 2-SCC traditional 3-MCC late start 4-Gateway 5-Phoenix College... At this rate i figured the more choices i have the better chance of getting in, even it's my latter choices.. I'd rather start at Phoenix College then wait another 3-8 months hoping my top 1 or 2 choice opens up.. The drive will suck but i just want to get this show on the road...

Nursing is over saturated in AZ. If you are waiting to get in the program, it is likely you will not get a job upon graduation unless you know someone already in the Medical industry. Furthermore, most hospitals are today trying to achieve Magnet status (80% + B.S.N. This means they prefer to higher BSN’s and shy away from Nurses that only have A.S. My advice would to plan to finish (ie. Do all classes necessary while waiting) BSN or try to get into C.E.P to help with finding a job when you graduate. If you have a long time to wait Try becoming a Medical assistant first. It only takes a few months when you have your pre-reqs done. This will garner you respect and allow you to network yourself. Doctors that do rounds in the hospitals have “pull” and can help get you a job when you are done your RN.

My stamp is 06/10/2011 08:02:48AM. I could not believe the wait list so I applied at GCU and ASU. I got into both. I am now in my second block at ASU and will graduate in May of 2014. I have kept myself on the list just to see how long it will take. The whole system that is currently in place for Maricopa Community Colleges is ridiculous! The only ray of hope I see for the future of the program are the CEP programs. They are merit based, which is the way it should be.

I agree! It should be merit based.

I'm in block 1 right now and the book bundle which includes all the online access codes and the e books was like 1061 and then the tote you need for lab was $100. That doesn't include scrubs and stuff or a stethoscope. The one positive is that's all the supples and books that you'll need for all 4 blocks. Let me know if you have any other questions!
