  1. I am in the accelerated program! Thanks I am excited and nervous for block 2! I think this feeling will always be with us until we finish! lol. Are you in traditional or accelerated?
  2. First block was great! I really love the program at GWCC, I commute all the way from Peoria but it is well worth the drive. That is so exciting you are about to start block 1, stay organized and do not procrastinate and you will do great! Let me know if you have any questions I will be happy to answer them
  3. Hello! I just completed block 1 at Gateway Community College (Arizona) and am about to start block 2 in about a week. I was wondering if I can get some input on what to expect this upcoming semester? What does the curriculum look like? How was it different from Block 1? I would like to hear anyone's experiences, advice, anything! Thank you!
  4. No problems with program or clinicals but it may be different when being hired as a nurse! So you have some time :) try not to worry about it too much
  5. Hi! I am currently in block 1 about to go into block 2!… I can only think of one smoker in my class and he isn't a "big" smoker in fact I have never seen him smoke, he just does it on occasion. Definitely a good thing to quit, smoke breaks are not easy to get! Books- I bring a lap top and use the Ebooks which I love but some people prefer to have a big rolling case to carry them with them to class every day, its your choice! Some people have an iPad but I also found it much easier and faster to have a laptop you will find yourself needing it more often than you would think. As for clinical sites, they change every semester so it is hard to say where you will be placed you should find out early on after starting though! Good luck! You will love it :)
  6. These all great "cheat sheets"! I wish I saw these earlier! Thank you!!
  7. For the first 6 weeks we had school Monday-Tuesday(Theory and Pharm) from 11:30-3:30 and Wednesday-Thursday (Lab both days) from 8-4. Once clinicals begin (week 7) the only thing that changes is Wed-Thursday, the schedule will depend on the assigned clincals days and times. It seems to be most busy the first 6 weeks, you may have 2-3 big tests a week! Where as now that clinicals have started for us we may only have 1 per week! Let me know if you have any more questions!
  8. Hi guys! I am currently in the accelerated program in block 1 at Gateway! Let me know if you have any questions!:)
  9. I was reviewing some good old anatomy and physiology when I found this guy who has tons of videos on youtube that is very explanatory on all different subjects of anatomy and physiology. Really awesome resource for review! Check it out! Hope this helps! armando hasudungan - YouTube
  10. I found an iPad/iPhone app that is so helpful with NCLEX questions, flash cards, quizzes, mnemonics, lab values, strategies, nursing fundamentals etc. it is called "NCLEX Mastery", it is $25 but SO worth the money! This may be a really great tool to help with nursing school and prepping for the NCLEX!
  11. Im not sure what that is.. but no I am not:)
  12. I completed my background check it took a little over a week to process.
  13. Has anyone heard on when we will w getting our nursing information packet?
