Maricopa skills or Southwest skills center??

U.S.A. Arizona

I have been accepted into both of these LPN programs. There isn't much difference other than drivng distance for me. One starts in Oct. and the other in Nov. One requires a $2K deposit. So, does anyone have any insight or experience at these particular schools? Thanks!!

I hope I will start at MSS next year. I do not know anything about the other center. I hope we will stay in touch...would love to hear how it goes and how easy it is

I dropped off my application about a week ago to the MSC and the admin assistant said I should be fine for the Aug 2008 class. I did also get into the Nov Southwest Skill Center class but coming up with 2K was a bit difficult with a family and not a lot of money, so I reapplied to the MSC. I am still wondering is this the right route for me but I am taking it one day at a time. If I don't do the LPN program I will still be working on my pre-req's.

Hi

Just a little information for Maricopa Skills, the down payment if you are doing the program self pay, is $1350, then 12 monthly payments of $540.

This is the current price and I am sure may change.

But it better than waiting another year at MCC or GCC!

Look into financial aid, there are always options!

Good luck!

I went to an information session last month at MSC and they said that there weren't going to be any openings until January 09. How did you manage to get in for August?

FYI...if you read the date of each post it will be more clear. Sometimes people respond to a post long after it was originated. In this case, Westvalley posted that last year in November. The good thing is, MSC isn't usually more than a semester wait. If you have completed everything required, I advise getting your app. in right away. Good luck to you!

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows how soon the Southwest Skill center lets you know that you've been accepted into the next cohort?

It's usually a month or two before the program starts. But, if you are an alternate for someone that may not accept or decline the spot, then it couls be at any given time before or after the program starts.

I have been combing through posts to find comments about Rio's CHM 130 online courses. If you have taken it, would you recommend it? Sounds like most who have posted here had great instructors for CHM classes at Rio online. I've read a lot of negative comments about Rio's online BIO classes and I quickly dropped that and signed up at PC and sort of shyed away from signing up for CHM 130 at Rio. I am currently signed up to take CHM 130 at PVCC but then I am also really paranoid about going into class with room full of students who may not be so eager to make the grade. I have taken online classes in the past and came out with A's. I am just bit intimidated with the thought of Chemistry to jump on the online class. I'm thinking that if I need to spend 3-4 hours at week at least on studies, I may as well stay home & do all that online vs. in person? What was your experience? If you took it online, did you regret taking it online? Any suggestions??? Maybe I am just paranoid all together. It is Chemistry afterall!!!!

Thank you So much in advance!!

Hi there. I took the math class a long, long time ago but it was accepted by PVCC and if I decide to do the online class at Rio, I am guessing that they'll take it also. I don't think I will try the accelerated course. That just may be over my head. Have you had Chemistry before? I haven't and I am already intimidated by the thought of taking Chemistry~!!!

Good luck to you, popmode77!!!

i took chemistry in high school, also took a&p1 and 2, and biology. i aced the classes but this was 6 years ago so i can honestly say at this point i don't remember a thing! I'm currently attending IIA but they dropped their chemistry so until they bring it back i have to take it elsewhere, and the accelerated will be my only option as i need it completed by april to start the actual nursing program in june. i am on my last week of my math with a 4.0 but the community college credits only transfer in at IIA, not out. so unfortunately i have to test out since i don't have enough time to retake math at the ccs! i hear online is harder with chemistry but at the same time if you're not doing it accelerated you should be fine! when is your start date for your chm?? thanks lizzy and good luck to you, too!! :)
