1.) How long did it take for you to finish all the pre-reqs?
2.) How long is the wait after you apply for admission?

Its only small if you think it is. We all have different abilities and commitments right?
I am dedicated to the process, I have a ton of motivation, I have time constraints, and I hate the income a student makes. I am used to living on a pretty decent salary and we are hurting. I am itching to get this done, so if I can cut a year or two out by taking heavy course loads so be it. The biggest thing I have to watch for is not to take to much and my grades suffer. I am an a student and I would be upset if I received a B because my course load was too big!
What part of the valley do you live in? (besides west)

Your right and I totally know how you feel. I was pulling 17 credits, working a fulltime job and had a six month old at home when I started this. It just got to be too much and started to doubt my ability to do this. So just when I was about to give up my family encouraged me to just try one class at a time, so that's what I am trying to do. I would love to take at least two classes but I am having major surgery next year and won't be able to balance everything. I guess I think about the time I wasted trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I "grew up".
I live in Glendale. I am hoping to be done with my pre-req's in a year and that's if I double up on my courses in the fall. I am so ready for a better career move. What school do you plan on applying to?

I am planning on applying to ASU in the fall for Spring of '09
Glendale huh? I live by pv mall
ASU? Cool! I thought about applying there at some point but at this point in my life the ADN works a bit better for me. I really can't afford to go there but I know lots of employers will pay for you to go back and get your BSN which is my plan. I hope everything is smooth sailing for you. Paradise Valley? I am not too familiar with that area. I have been in AZ for about 3 years, I'm orginally from Chicago.Julie

Maricopa Community College Nursing website now states...
Thought it would be helpful info...
It also depends on where you apply.. I put my app in Aug 2007 applied for BNFP in Aug 2007 got selected in November 2007 to start March 2008 cohort -- I began my pre-reqs in 2004--- so depending on your experience you have now and what classes you have completed .. I have all my pre-reqs, co-reqs and more done.. just keep working on classes while you are on the list too . EVERYTHING counts

Just FYI I finished my pre req's and got accepted to the program in may 07 and got accepted to start the nursing program for Jan 09. a little more than one and a half years, but I could only apply for 2 locations. Hope this helps anyone just starting out.
