Frustrated with process

I am applying at GCC for the nursing program. They need my official transcript from UOP by the 18th. I have an official transcript from UOP that I received back in August that I have not touched. They cannot accept that one because it was not mailed directly to them. UOP has mailed said transcript twice and it's not received. If they do not receive said transcript, then I must test out of Critical Reading. Why exactly is that, when I have a BSBA and an MBA? She has my unofficial transcripts from UOP, how exactly can I doctor an official transcript when they can call the school to verify? Why can they not accept the official transcript that I have "in hand" until they receive the other official transcript from UOP? Some of these necessities are entirely insane. I am wondering, if I am having such issues with this - can it get any worse? Sorry, needed to vent. I refuse to test out of a class that I really do not need to AND needless to say that I have paid for 2 transcripts.

The process can get frustrating, and unfortunately it can get worse. If all you are waiting on from that transcript is the critical reading, then you should just go test out. It is extremely easy to test out of it and if that is all you need to apply to the program, then definately go test so you can get your application in, the sooner the application is in, the sooner you will actually get into the nursing program.

I also had my transcript lost twice, third time was the charm, but yes it is extremely frustrating. I feel your pain.

Best of luck to you.

I hate to whine, but it is just insane. She said that the test was pretty easy. What was it like? You just read something and answer questions? I have never tested out of anything.

Funny....i already have a bs and i didnt have to take or test out of critical reading; they gave me credit for it telling me "bachelor's and above get credit for it, associate's don't".

It is basically comprehension. If you have taken and passed the NET you will have no problem. You have an MBA -- it will be a breeze. Good Luck.

Thanks, I was thinking it would be similar to the NET.

Cursed Irishman, that was what I was thinking also. They have copies of my unofficial transcripts, so they know that I have them - that is what irks me.

If that irks you I hope you don't ever have to deal with their financial aid department. Full of morons! LOL!

I would just go ahead and take the test. It takes maybe 1/2 an hour and is no biggie. Extremely easy.

OK y'all, I will take your words on it and take the test. I will stop digging my heels in and just get over it. I need to see when the hubby is free so I can run up there and just get it over with. I did have principle you know? LOL!!!

Nope, I truly hope that I never have to deal with their financial aid office. I hope that the moons all come into alignment for you on that front. Good luck!

It appears that the transcript made it and I do not have to test out of Critical Reading. Thank GOD and thanks for your suggestions. Whew!!

Anyway I made these choices:

Choice 1: Glendale CC Weekend Day

Choice 2: Glendale CC Hybrid Part-time Evening

Choice 3: Glendale CC 4 Semester Traditional

Choice 4: Phoenix College Accelerated (Afternoons & Evenings)

Choice 5: Paradise Valley Community College/John C. Lincoln 4 Semester Traditional

Any comments, suggestions, stop signs I should know about?

Every semester you will get an email to update your selections so you should make sure your selections are available, even if you may not get in. You never know! I had originally applied at Rio and found out (no thanks to my advisor) that they werent even offering classes last fall. However, that choice was still default from the last semester and I unwittingly left it chosen, bringing my total choices to 4 rather than 5, lowering my chances to get in. It ended up being a moot point anyway but it sure would have messed me up had I been a little farther up in line. ;)

Funny how that works sometimes :)

Remember, you have to pick your fights, and it is better to pick ones that defend your morals/integrity instead of fights that protect your ego.

Glad you got in, and yes there are some ridiculous hoops to jump through in school.
