CNA requirement

For those programs that require a CNA course prior to admission (EVIT, MSC, Gateway LPN fast track) do they just require the completed course, or do you also have to test to get your certification/license? For EVIT, from what I was told by admissions, they only require that you complete the course, not the testing.

Maybe I am mistaken. Any insight?

I am looking at my EVIT application packet and it says CNA or Certificate of completion... so it seems like you can have either.

Not sure about the other schools though.

That is the way I read it too, but you never know. I start my CNA course at RSAA Jan 19th, and is only 5 wks, but then the testing isn't until March 19th. The application deadline for EVIT is 3/23, so that would be cutting it close.

So your class final is on 3/19? From what I remember after we took our final exam we waited one by one as our exam got graded. As soon as we got a "pass" we got a certificate of completion from our instructor..

So as long as you pass on the 19th you should walk out the door with your certificate of completion..

The good news is if you don't pass the final.. (I think only 2 people failed in my class, but I think it's because they rushed it.. the final was actually pretty tricky)... you can take it again the same day.

At least that's how it was when I went to RSAA last June/July ;-)

Thanks again for the info. I think I was getting confused thinking there were two separate tests, one for the class and one for the state to get your license.

There are two seperate tests... completing the course you get your certificate of completion which allows you to submit an application to the board of nursing with your fingerprints and to get a test date for the state through D&S Diversified.

Unless RSAA does all that for you and is a testing site that I don't know.

Oh, sorry if I confused you! Yes, as AZMOM said.. there ARE two separate tests. One is to pass the class.. the final and the other is to get your state certification. But, if your final exam is 3/19 then you should be fine if the school you want to apply to only requires that you passed a nursing assistant course.

You will take the state board exam at RSAA.
