okay thank you!! Another question if i may ask. I know how chamberlain is pretty strict saying if you don't get an average of 76 on All pre-licensure nursing courses you can't pass the class. What is considered pre-licensure courses? Is microbiology considered pre-licensure course or is it the main nursing courses that they are talking about. Ex. nur-222, nur-224 etc.
    Thank you

all classes that begin with NR require a 76% TEST average. That means that your other assignments, assuming all is done well, will actually bring your final grade up. But, you must get at least a 76% test average before your other assignments count. So, no, the microbiology course is not under the same guidelines.

Good luck as you will do just fine, especially because you are seeking out information.

    Hi,

Wow...I am pumped up about CCN after reading the posts. I am going into turn in application and take HESI exam today. I have a BS and has taken the TEAS. I have my fingers crossed for CCN July 2011 too. Does anyone know a good apartment around there to recommend? I am planning to go look around at apartment complexes unless there's someone out there looking for a roommate. I'm neat and easygoing =D

Hi, I have a question and would greatly appreciate if someone can he'll answer. I will be taking my HESI A2 in the next few days; my advisor said that there will be questions on Chemistry, Physiology, and Anatomy as well. Will these be hard questions or basic ones? What parts should I focus more on? I am feeling more stress now that I am getting closer to my exam date. Will really appreciate if someone who has already pass or taken the exam can give me some answers. Thanks!

I have a question about the clinical kit Chamberlain wants us to buy. The SuiteStyles website used to tell you in detail what was in the "student clinical kit", but according to the clinical coordinator they hid the contents to keep students from making their own kits (and saving money). The kit is $55 and I was told we only need it for NR224..
my question is what do students do with their kits after NR224? If it's something we use after NR224 I'll consider shelling out the 55 bucks. But if someone could tell me what is included I'd like to price out my own kit cuz I'm cheap lol
    Thanks!

i did purchase the clinical kit almost two years ago and to be honest, i only used three items from the kit. i put (used) next to the item below, stating i used it during simulations. i still have the bag sitting in my closet. oh well, at least i have a cool chamberlain zip bag i can use as a school/work bag for my books.

keep in mind that i started chamberlain about two years ago, so a lot of things have changed, therefore, you may be required to use more items from the kit then i did. in addition, it's also good to have these items yourself for extra practice now that the school has extra hours available for more simulation practice.

the following items are in the kit: (in no particular order) (items may be different as this kit was from 2009)
*tracheostomy clean and care tray (used)
    *argyle salem sump
    *suction catheter kit (used)
*foley catheter (don't have the exact name as label was removed) (used)
*irrigation tray with 60 ml piston syringe
    *dressing tray
    *wound care tray
    *transfer/gait belt
    *continu-flo solution set
    *suture removal tray
    *basic cleansing enema bag
*gauze sponges usp type vii gauze

    you are very welcome.

Thanks Mysty! I remember seeing the majority of those items from the site when they had the kit contents listed just a few months ago, thanks again for looking

I just have a quick Chamberlain question. I am 39 and haven't attended any college courses for over 10 yrs. How much is GPA a factor w/ older students? If I do really well on the HESI, do I still have a chance of attending in Oct.? I have psych, Eng. Comp, upper and lower level both, and Bio completed way back when, but have no clue what bearing that will have on things now.
My dream has always been to be an ER nurse and I think Chamberlain is the quickest, most concise way to go about getting there. Anyone have any relevant info?

    Thanks!

I am not sure, but I believe colleges will only accept classes if they were within the last few years. You may want to double check that with Chamberlain. In regards to the GPA, as long as you get at least a 76% testing average in each class, you can go through fine with at least a total GPA of 2.0. Being 39 years old is really not considered a bad thing. If you truly want this, then you will put your all into it and go for it. If anything, you are more focused now then you were ten-twenty years ago. If it has always been your dream to be an ER nurse, then take that entrance HESI exam and get your dream started. Yes, you can start in October if you pass the HESI entrance exam, regardless of which classes you took years ago. You just need to find out which classes will transfer in.

Much luck to you in your nursing journey!

Thanks I am planning on it! I was referring to my prior GPA though, not the one I will have...which will be stellar hehe!! I definitely thought I had better things to do 10 yrs ago.

    Live and learn!!

I have a question for those starting in July! Did you guys buy your books yet? I tried to find out what books I needed for math and speech but only the nursing books are up there. Should I just go to Chamberlain and see what books I need?
