I am considering going to this school since it is not too far from where I live. I am wondering how long the wait is? I am not a resident of Pinal County since I am just inside Maricopa County. So I am also concerned because I am not a resident that I will wait longer.

I understand that there is not a "waitlist" but I know that they can push back your admission a semester. If you have any recent experiences with applying at this school let me know. I appreciate any feedback though.

Hello. I have been excepted into the fall 08 RN program at CAC. I finished my CNA last December, and sent in my application plus essay before the deadline of Feb for the fall admission. I got an interview by April and was notified that I got in around the middle of May sometime. Yes, there is no wait list, but there is spill off from the last semester of the people who didn't get in..so they are assured a place in the next semester..which can push new students wishing to come in back alittle. Like you, I'm not a Pinal County resident..I live in Chandler. You must keep on top of things with the divison secretary and make sure you have all your pre-reqs done, plus have the HESI test complete. If you want to apply for the spring semester I think you need to apply in October..and there might only be a one week window to do so. Anyway, with approx 1800 people waiting to get into the RN program in Maricopa I will drive to CAC everyday if it means not having to wait a year and ahalf just to get in..then two years for the course..in the long run this adds up to ALOT of money lost in "wait time".

Thank so much for the info. I also live in Chandler and if you think about it this school is not really all that far compared to some of the others. (except maybe MCC) I am still in the prereq process and still have to complete my CNA. What CNA program did you complete? I have gotten recommendations for RSAA.

Your welcome, anytime! CAC is only 30 minutes from my door. You do know that when applying for the RN program now in Maricopa, that bio 205 is now a co-req right? My bio prof (which I completed in the spring) said that this going to be hard on nursing students because 205 is VERY intense. Combine this with the core nursing courses, it will be extremly hard for students to focus. I would suggest to you to make sure you finish bio 205 beofre starting the RN program.

I completed my CNA course at CAC. Every Saturday, all day. The clinicals were split up between Chandler and Casa Grand. The course was very enjoyable, and hard at all.

So CAC has a CNA course. Is it only on Saturdays? Or do you go to class during the week and then clinicals on Saturdays? I know that I need to get this done before I apply.

Hi again. Yes, they have a CNA course, but they may have it also during the week..I don't know without looking at their calander. I took it on Saturday's because it was once a week and all the clinicals are on Saturday's as well. Yes, if applying for CAC you must take the CNA course before you can get into the RN course. Maricopa allows you to do the CNA as a co-req (which I think is silly because the CNA clinicals give you a good view to what you may be facing as a nurse, and some students have no idea what they are in store for..so the CNA clinicals are a good eye-opener).

Hi!

I took the Tuesday/Thursday morning class from 10am-2:20pm. We did our clinicals on the same days, just longer hours. The evening CNA class on Tuesday/Thursdays came in right before we left when we did our clinicals....so if we did them 7am til 4pm, they would come in at 3pm.

I am going to apply for CAC for spring admission. I am currently taking my CNA course at RSAA. I am in the weekend program and it's 6 weekends...I am going into the 4th weekend, with clinicals starting Sunday. I personally find it very boring. :yawn: I'm hoping clinicals will be more exciting and I'm glad I can get it done in 6 weeks and not 15 like at the community college.

One quick question... What does RSAA stand for? I haven't heard of this.

I don't remember what RSAA stands for....although it's in big letters on the wall at the school. :chuckle
