Are there any drawbacks to attending Apollo or Pima?

I was just checking to see if anyone on here happens to know this information. Aside from the money, is it better to wait to get into a MCCD school, or are Apollo and Pima just as good? If I go to Apollo or Pima would I still be able to become a nurse practitioner later on? I'm having trouble finding this information myself. I'll be done with my prereqs for MCCD in May and I don't really want to wait four more years to be an RN. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your nurse practitioner degree would be built upon your Rn assoc, so any school that gets you an assoc degree is fine. If time is most imp then you'd wanna get into the 1st school you can, so go from there. Personally I found it easier to pull my own teeth than get actual answers to questions from Pima, I found them to be rude and dismissive- they are interested only in those students that will make them look good, and they hold out on giving acceptance notices until the bitter end; by then it's too late to apply somewhere else. Beware.

Thank you for your response! I wasn't really considering any other schools until recently when I saw a thread on Apollo college. Getting started soon sounds REALLY good! I just wonder if it could end up being a mistake...you know, too good to be true. Like you said, getting any real information is difficult. Thanks again!

The 'private' schools out here, meaning not community colleges, take students for Rn pgms once/year, and do not have so-called "wait lists" like community colleges, as far as I know, so in other words if you apply and are accepted, you begin w/ next class.... of course there are 1 million things to do to get accepted, but at least you can start w/ the next class, and not wait 3 or 4 years. But again I would not expect that kind of reply from pima, Apollo will let you know where you stand w/ the other applicants who are your competition.

Thanks again for your insight! I think, though, I have decided to stick it out and wait to get into a community college. I'm going to apply for the Banner Nurse Fellows program and hope it works out. If not, I guess that leaves more time to hang out with my boys before diving into school.

You should have listened to your mother! :smackingf

:p I guess sometimes she knows what she's talking about!!!

Apollo is kind of looked down on as not a real college.
