How is the job situation looking for new grads? Anyone found jobs? Who's still looking?

I got a :nurse: job in a dialysis clinic and I graduated with my ADN two weeks ago. I heard that Brookwood said they are not hiring anymore new grads until September and I do believe all the other Birmingham hospitals have hired most of the new grads they are going to hire for right now. I think mostly it's a waiting game for most of the new grads out there. I was lucky enough to find one but a lot of people I know are not as fortunate. Good luck to everyone looking out there!!!

Its also about who you know..never take for granted your clinical and preceptorship experiences. Our class were so praised at one local hospital.although they say they are on a hiring freeze..they hired all the students who were interested (about 6), and it wasn't done the "natural way" it was like ok come in for a interview...so they are watching so take the opportunity to stand out.

I agree with the post that mentioned standing out in clinicals and preceptorship. I did not want to work at the hospital my preceptorship was. So I made sure that I made contacts at my last clinical and I got a job there! But there are so many I graduated with not finding jobs. I pray every day that they find one. You work so hard to pass your tests, then the NCLEX and then you just can't wait to start working to make $$$.

So all you new grads that are without jobs, don't give up! It will happen. Make sure that when you apply, that you follow up. Let them know that you want a job! If anything, maybe they will give you an interview to shut you up!:nurse:
