Jeff State Fall 2013 hopefuls

U.S.A. Alabama

Hi Everyone,

I just applied to The RN program at Jeff State and I wanted to get a thread going for other Fall 2013 hopefuls. If you're like me, the next couple months of waiting is going to be torture and I just thought it would be helpful to have somewhere to go to help pass the time with others in our situation :) I'm pretty optimistic and think I have a good chance, but you just never know! What kind of scores did everyone apply with? I wonder what the cutoff will be? I was told it could be late July before we hear anything...anyone hear something different? Also, who is applying for part-time and who is applying for full-time?

Look forward to meeting you all and GOOD LUCK to EVERYONE!

Hi! I am in the Jeff State part time program. It's A LOT of hard work but it is doable. The nursing program at Jeff State is very, very competitive. What was your overall score?

Hi aubgurl! How great to talk to someone who has been in my shoes and came out successful on the other side :) I applied with a score of 226. I've read some other threads where people got in with lesser scores, but I guess I'm still nervous because I think more people apply to the fall program than any other semester and I'm sure every year probably gets more and more competitive as students learn what is expected of them. I don't know anyone in the program, but my husband works for the fire dept and tries to talk to the nurses at various hospitals to find out what they thought of the programs they graduated from....and the general feeling is that Jeff State has a very difficult program. Right now I just can't seem to get enough information...I'm really excited and the waiting is going to kill me!

Oh yeah, and what do you think about the part time program? That was my first choice.

I'll be applying as soon as I take my TEAS. I hear that the cutoff this time is 180. that sounds right considering its fall. Gonna get into the Shelby campus (im confident). Im pretty hyped about this. I cant wait to finally wear scrubs with reason lol!

Hey Katty4982, You have a great score! I got in with less than that so you should be great! I love the program but it is hard. There is a lot that you have to teach yourself but it can be done! Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions. Let me know how it goes!

I'm a fall 13 hopeful! I'm applying with a 195, and I was told by the advisors that I should be in good shape with that score. I'm still a little nervous. I was also told there's only one person processing the applications this year (at least on the center point campus) so we may here later rather than sooner about our applications. I'm anxious to find out. Good luck to everyone!

Whoadey, what do you do now that you get to wear scrubs? I know this sounds silly, but I can't wait to wear scrubs! I feel like I'll look important or something, haha :)

Blakexac, I think you're right about them being shorthanded. I'm applying to the Shelby campus and I know for a fact one of the girls that helps process the application will be out on maternity leave. My question is, if we do get in and we don't find out until late July...how long will it take to complete orientation and then get our immunizations and what not in order?!?

I cant wait to wear scrubs either lol. id wear them everywhere. its like wearing a dogi. I retook my TEAS today did a lot better. Im goin in with 201.5. Pretty solid. Just a heads up to everyone. get your transcripts in order. apparently some new policies are making this year a little more difficult. this can mean big trouble for students from other states. if youre not sure its best you call or see the advisors personally. tick tock.

Applying with a 182. Here's hoping for the Shelby campus since I'm about 10 minutes from it.

How long does it normally take to hear back about?

Studied for and retook the TEAS and scored lower than when I took it the first time, which I did not study for. -.-

Dhies, that sucks about the TEAS! Not exactly what you're expect to happen...and it's not cheap either! But I think you've got a solid chance at getting in either way. Shelby is my first choice too (I also live pretty close), but I'm hoping to get in on the night/weekend track. My theory for Fall is that yes there are more people who apply, but there are two programs available..the night/weekend and the full time...so who knows what the cut off will be. I heard we probably won't hear back until July :(
